About this listen

Tyler is my best buddy on the planet. We would move mountains for each other. So when I discover that my girl has been cheating on me, it's my best friend's job to put me back together.

His own troubles in the love nest are brewing. His girlfriend is jealous of all the time Tyler spends cheering me up.

She doesn't understand. Nobody gets us. We had always been each other's rocks. And when Tyler is forced to choose between me and his girl, my whole life is turned upside down.

He chooses me. And he makes me happier than he can understand.

Maybe we are each other's soulmates. The only problem is . . . neither of us is into guys.

It's a cruel cosmic joke to make me fall in love with my best friend and never be able to do anything about it. But once I see the truth behind the veil of fog and confusion, I can never unsee it. I want him. Even if it means learning to like a whole new style.

Contains mature themes.

BFFs Tyler Morgan and Sebastian Ramirez have always had each other’s backs on and off the rink so when Sebastian finds out his girlfriend is cheating, Tyler is there to comfort him. Soon that comfort leads to more than friendly feelings and Tyler must make a decision about his own failing relationship. Keeping things on the down-low, Tyler and Sebastian both finally find the relationship they’ve always wanted—with each other. Life seems good but a visit to their hometown has parents causing problems. Tyler’s distant Dad has never gotten over his depression while Sebastian’s uber-religious parents and brothers can never resist criticising him for his choices and chipping away at his self-confidence, which has him second-guessing his new relationship.

Most of this friends-to-lovers / sports / GFY romance was fun and sweet but things got heavy when Sebastian started to succumb to the negative brainwashing in his family home. I’m totally allergic to religious people who have determined that they know best and that any deviation from their strict rules is sinful. I’m also allergic to the ubiquitous third-act break up which is a tired and annoying trope. To be fair, these sections were compelling and well-written, but they were not my favourite scenes, and Sebastian does eventually tap his inner strength, which soothed me a bit. 🎧 Voice actor Curtis Michael Holland gives another great performance. His youthful voice really suits these types of characters and he hits all the emotional notes perfectly.

Sweet and sour GFY romance!
