Secret baby? Yes please
Chaos by Luna Mason completely wrecked me in the best way possible. Jax and Sofia’s story is raw, emotional, and beautifully layered — a true standout in the Beneath the Mask universe.
This book is heavy, no doubt about it. Jax is still reeling from the devastating loss of his best friend and “brother” Kai (from Detained), and that grief is palpable in every chapter. Luna Mason did such an incredible job writing his pain, his confusion, and his path to healing. The mental health representation in this book is written with so much care and authenticity — it’s powerful without ever feeling forced.
Sofia and Jax together? Off-the-charts chemistry. You could feel their connection from the very first page. Their love wasn’t sunshine and rainbows — it was real, messy, and perfectly balanced. They brought out the best and worst in each other, but most importantly, they chose each other again and again.
The new characters introduced (Nikolai, Alexei, Lara, and Mikhail) were such a breath of fresh air, especially Alexei — he had me giggling in every scene he was in. I’m beyond excited to see where their stories go next!
And the audiobook? Stunning. CJ Bloom and Sebastian York brought Jax and Sofia to life with so much emotion and depth. Their performance made every scene even more impactful, and I was completely immersed from start to finish.
And that quote at the end?
“Now the good days outweigh the bad. I have a radiant light in my darkened world. And in spite of everything, there is always beauty in chaos.”
Damn. Just damn.
Luna Mason, you’ve done it again. 🖤
