I could not stop listening to this book. I discovered Mel Robbins on youtube and was hooked on her 5 Second Rule philosophy and couldn't wait to listen to the whole book. Her voice is so captivating and I'm excited to start using this rule in my own life.
I couldn't get past the first few chapters. It sounds like a great big sales pitch and self-absorbed dross. It's so drawn out it feels like an infomercial. I just wanted her to get to the point.
This is a great little book! It's my first time 'listening' to a book and Mel really made the experience a great one. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have been applying the 5 second rule to my life since I heard about it. Mel is very entertaining with a great knack for storytelling and has a really lovely voice to listen to. Great book. Thanks Mel!
Easy to listen to and understand. Not sure if the one tool is a fix for all motivational issues but very fresh and down to earth,
This is an excellent book. In my coaching career i have seen many caught in the headlights an not sure what to do. The 5 Second Rule has provided a tool the can be used to move them forward.

Having Mel Robbins read the book was great! I felt like she was in the car with me. I appreciated the mistakes that were left in, rather than edited out, and I LOVED the emotion. When she cried, I cried. When she sounded passionate, I felt passionate. Definitely worth a listen. My kids and I have listened to this audio four times, already. Love it.
I just did the 54321 seconds rule, I'm writing a review...this alone is frightening for me. I think it's because deep down I always want to write, what I think and feel, but I never bother because I thought about it to much . It's simple and a small start will do, I just did. Thanks to Mel Robbins, I have re-connected within my self to force myself the "GO" push using her 54321. I recommend it to anyone, who desperately wants a change and a chance to find them self again. I totally love her tone of voice and stories she use to demonstrate her point across. The message is so clear, that I'm so glad I was listening. I hope you find my review useful, but most of all, that you find yourself doing the 54321, now Go!

There are two modes of thinking in Zen. The first is the observing mind and the second is the thinking mind. The thinking mind does, the observing mind observe. If you've ever done something while you said to yourself that you shouldn't be doing it, that's your observing mind telling you you shouldn't. If you've ever not done something that you felt you should absolutely do, that feeling in your guts pushing you to do it and decided not to, then that's your observing mind telling you not to do something and your thinking mind stopping you with a catalog of what consequences might happen to come.But if you don't like all the spiritual talk, you can instead think of it as right brain/left brain dichotomy (See https://www.amazon.com/Master-His-Emissary-Divided-Western/dp/0300188374 ) where it was shown through unfortunate stroke victims that the right brain is silent and holistic and the left brain is detail oriented and abstract, theories that came to be confirmed by hemisphere specific stroke victims where ones that had a stroke on the left hemisphere could still make an accurate drawing on paper about what they see, while those with a stroke on the right hemisphere could only draw a Picasso-esque shape (a ball with sticks poking out, an eye misplaced as a representation of a person). The left brain has an inhibitory effect on the right brain, this is further explained in detail in the book. My conjecture is, that this feeling we feel in our gut, our body, or soul is our right brain telling us what to do, if you don't do it before there's a shift in consciousness you will be filled with the dread of consequences, detail oriented left brain is very good in that regard, however with this tool, this 5 second count, you can skip it. You can ignore it and do what that inner voice tells you you should do. This is a revolutionary tool, both in your personal relationships and professional life.Larry King, a person that never went to college or had any credentials with a family on welfare got to a 15 million dollar salary and a private jet from a single meeting with the director of announcers at CBS on the street asking him what to do, and from there on out his journey started at 22 years old. Imagine if he were too scared at that time to go and talk to the guy, imagine the chances you missed or might miss in the future for not having the nerve to go ahead and simply do what you feel you really should be doing. This is where the 5 second rule can come in to the rescue and help you do what you are meant to do.

"Absolutely life changer!"
Not only is this book an absolute must read, the audio version is a gem listening to Mel Robbins get choked up with emotional testimonials is so genuine. I immediately applied the 5 second rule after the first chapter and am happy to say, it is contagious. My husband and I no longer snooze in the morning which has revived our outlook on our future.
It's refreshing how Mel Robbins doesn't sugar coat anything. She says it exactly how it is, no BS. I immediately started using the 5 second rule even before I finished the book and I can't stop talking about it, sharing it with my friends and family, or finding new ways to use it. In fact I find myself listening to it again. On a side note, there are parts of the recording where Mel obviously screws up and has to repeat herself and start sentences over. She could've edited that out but she didn't and I feel there is something so raw and authentic about that.
"Great way to start your day!"
I listen to just a few min each morning and every day since I started doing this my days have been more productive and focused. 5-4-3-2-1 and but this book on audible if you haven't. Brainwash yourself to know how very worthy and powerful you are. Stop living in the shadows and break free. As I just wrote this I realized I was talking about myself and so I am off to break free today and reach new horizons I've only dreamed of.

.. is how I would describe this book .. I felt more like I was speaking with Mel as opposed to her speaking at me… fantastic, transformational wisdom…
As an avid reader, I do hear and read many of the same topics simply repackaged… This is different; very different… it is very telling and obvious that she wants you to not only hear what she has to say, but more importantly, she wants you to use her insight to transform your life now…
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 .. get this book!
I have been feeling stagnant for nearly 5 years. So I am excited to start. Didn't feel like cleaning at 6am this morning but I 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and started. I have overwhelmed but now I will looking at the small steps to move my mountain.
I already have recommended this book to friends, even while I was half way through. 'Life-changing' is a fair description in my opinion - provided you put it into practice.
Outstanding book. I listened to it in one sitting, but I will listen to it again several times until this becomes my habitual way of dealing with procrastination. I noticed several spots in the book where a mistake was made in the reading, so Mel reread it, obviously with the intention of an editor editing out the mistake, however these were not edited out. If she paid someone to edit this, then she needs to get them to put this right. I would be horrified if I was to hand a voice-over file back to a client with these errors in. Mel, if you want someone to edit your future audio books, I would be more than happy to do it. You will find me on your email list.

This is the best book I have ever purchased, and I have purchased hundreds.
In my opinion, until you read, and "get" this simple concept, you'll spend a fortune seeking it.

If you are interested in listening to this book - go for it. If ever there was an argument for listening rather than reading it applies to the book. Mel narrating adds a level of intensity, emotion and realism that I suspect I wouldn't have got from the print version. This book will become a classic and will still be relevant in fifty years time. Loved this book it was a pleasure to listen to and it has changed me for the better. Thank you.
"Truly a must have book"
I've been a fan of Mel Robbins since I discovered her TED talk "how to stop screwing yourself over" she speaks plainly, straight from the heart and doesn't BS.
Looking forward to this book since I 1st heard that she was writing it and it doesn't disappoint.
I've been familiar with the 5 second rule for quite sometime now but since I started listening to the book I've applied it with more consistency and have easily had the most productive yet stress free week I've had in a loooong time.
I think everyone need to read and apply the 5 second rule

Listening to this audio felt like Mel was taking directly to me, in my living room. She's assertive, tells it like it is. She's knows what's in our thoughts; as she's been there. She gives you lots of live testimonies of this rule working. You will start to hear '5 seconds' going off in your head automatically when you're faced with temptation, like not wanting to get out of bed or wanting to eat something you know you shouldn't. I'm looking forward to getting the hardback copy of this book when it's released in the U.K. too. Anyone that 'wrestles' with making decisions or needs to change habits should get this book, today, via whatever means you can. I got the audiobook because the hardback was not being released until the end of March, and I couldn't wait. I'd been following Mel on Twitter and Facebook, so knew I had to get a copy. It deserved nothing less than 5 stars! Enjoy!!

Mel has a genuine and gentle reading voice. Her tone is easy to listen to piquing interest at points but not over doing it.
