Alternative Thought

In simple and straightforward language, Bhante Gunaratana shares the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness and how we can use these principles to improve our daily lives, deepen our mindfulness, and move closer to our spiritual goals. Based on the classic Satipatthana Sutta, one of the most succinct yet rich explanations of meditation, Bhante's presentation is nonetheless thoroughly modern.

Do not worry because you cannot follow the course exactly to the letter. Do what you can of it, adapt it to your life, and do the best you can in present circumstances. The principal thing is to get twice daily into what is called the Silence, to quieten the senses, and get in touch with the Unseen, i.e., God, Divine Mind, the Infinite, Principle of Good, First Cause, the Absolute, the name does not matter, they all mean the same. Another vital thing is to use affirmations and denials, these will be explained more fully later. Yet another is meditation.

Thoughts are our "daily bread", which we feed on and through which we create "reality". But I want to make a premise: The thought is the fruit of who you are (or rather of what you think you are), so to "change your thoughts" you have to transform your discovery, only in this way does your reality change. History has shown us on several occasions that those who have a positive outlook on life are also those who generally achieve greater success. And there is no lack of quotes from the great entrepreneurs on the importance of positive thoughts and an optimistic mental attitude.

Do you seek emotional healing, spiritual healing, or growth? Or do you need encouragement and deliverance from self-doubt or more faith in God? Look no further. This book, Meditative Thoughts for Empowerment, is written for you.
