At the end of his life, Eryk Veiger challenged his greatest enemy...and lost. Just when he thought death was going to claim him, he woke up in his old bedroom, in a city that had been destroyed decades ago, and found himself back in his 17 year-old body. Now he’s being given a chance to do things over again, to prevent the destruction of his home. But to change the past, Eryk has several daunting tasks ahead of him. Failure to accomplish his goals will mean more than just death. It will mean having to once more watch as everything he has ever loved is destroyed.

A chance to start over...Eryk's dreams continue to show him visions of his past. This time, it is about when he and Kari were forced into the Endless Desert, a harsh and arid land where the strong rule the weak and creatures known as lamia terrorize humans. But when Eryk finds himself running out of the funds he needs to refine alchemy pills, he must contact the head of the Alchemist Association, Feinrea Kunis, and convince her and Fay's father to join him in a joint business venture that will hopefully solve his financial problems.

Eryk Veiger is determined to win, not just so he can remove Grant Leucht from Kari’s and Fay’s lives for good, but also so he can request Kari’s freedom and allow Lin to walk in the sun without fear of being mistaken for a Demon Beast. He’s more determined than ever to prevent what happened in his past from happening again in his future. Yet someone working in the shadows is determined to make sure Eryk doesn’t succeed, even if that means assassinating him under the cover of night.

Eryk has won the Spiritualist Grand Tournament, helped Kari and Fay avoid marrying Grant Leucht, and destroyed the cage preventing Kari from journeying outside of Neveria. But his task isn’t over yet. Now, he must convince Fay Valstine to join him, Kari, and Lin in a polygamous relationship.

Eryk has returned to Kari, Lin, and Fay after falling down a ravine in the Demon Beast Mountain Range and meeting the mysterious woman, Dyr. After returning home, everyone falls back into their routines. Eryk spends his time training Fay and Kari, teaching Lin humanity’s written language, giving new alchemy recipes to the Alchemist Association, and trying to help the Nevarian Spiritualists build up their defenses in preparation for the Demon Beast Invasion that will happen several years from now.
