The Twitchers

Twitch has three pet chickens, four pigeons, swallows nesting in his bedroom and a passion for bird-spotting. On the first day of the summer holidays, he arrives at his secret birdwatching hide to find police everywhere: a convicted robber has broken out of prison and is hiding in Aves Wood. Can Twitch use his talents for bird-spotting to hunt for the dangerous prisoner and find the missing loot?

When Jack discovers that someone is hurting local pets, he's determined that the Twitchers will solve the crime. But the Twitchers are more interested in the rare and endangered bearded vulture spotted heading for Aves Woods. Determined to prove himself, Jack sets off to investigate, only to find himself in deep water. Friendless and alone, Jack must use all his bravery and skills to not only stop a terrible crime, one that could put the bearded vulture in danger, but to prove to his friends that he's a deserving member of The Twitchers after all.

It's spring, and Aves Wood is alive with migrating birds returning to build their nests. But eggs are going missing. Could someone be stealing from the nests of the wild birds? Horrified, the birdwatching detectives set up a stakeout, patrolling the woods to protect the nesting birds and hunting down the despicable egg thief. But the Twitchers are soon caught in their own trap. Can they work together to prove their innocence and catch the real criminal before any more birds get hurt?

On a school trip to the Royal Swan Natural History Museum, Ava finds herself at the center of a heist: hundreds of invaluable bird of paradise skins from the Alfred Wallace Collection have been stolen! When she discovers a large jet-black feather, she's sure it's a clue, but the police won't listen to her. Slipping away, she takes the case to the Twitchers in an investigation that leads them to the bizarre and sinister world of fly-fishing, and to a mysterious girl with a pet Raven called Caliban and a dangerous ring of thieves and smugglers.
