I'm a fae without a court, but that suits me just fine. Kind of. For years, I've hidden in my shabby East London flat, working as a private investigator for romantically-scorned supernaturals. The pay? Total rubbish. I'm broke as hell and almost homeless. But I'm stuck in this life. If anyone discovered my dark past, I'd end up dead. But when a serial killer starts picking off London's fae, it seems fate has other plans for me.

As a new investigator and guard of the Crimson Court, I've got a lot to prove. Like, I need to show that my mind-reading powers are actually useful. So, when Balor, my alluring fae prince, wants to team up on a case, I jump at the chance. Only problem is, he's still digging into my past. If he finds out the truth, he'll banish me into the darkness. And away from his side.

I'm Clark Cavanaugh: mind reader, bad-ass investigator, and half-fae with questionable taste in guys. Just when I think life at the Crimson Court is finally calming down, a cunning stranger gives me an ultimatum. If I don't find and kill a rogue vampire by the end of the week, my secret will be revealed to the world. Balor, my alluring fae prince, will finally learn the dark truth about my past. Basically, I'm being blackmailed.

Life isn't going exactly as planned. I've been kicked out of the Crimson Court and forced to move in with a grumpy and irritating (and gorgeous) shifter until I can prove to Balor that I belong with the fae. Luckily, I have a plan. I'm going to take on Nemain, the dangerous fae who wants to steal Balor's Court away from him. If I can stop her, maybe Balor will forgive the terrible things from my past. But things take a turn for the worse when Nemain wields an ancient cursing stone against the entire Crimson Court.

There is only one thing currently on my supernatural to-do list: get the murderous, sociopathic new Queen off Balor's throne. Problem is, she's banned every single fae in London from even speaking to us. Worse, a dangerous magic has exploded from my mating bond with Balor. It speaks of a strange, dark, shared past that neither of us can remember. One that echoes violence into the present. All we can do is keep on fighting and searching for the truth. The supernatural world is on the brink of war. And if we don't stop it soon, blood will paint the streets.
