The Faerie Knight

Trist's older brother, Percy, was better than him at almost everything—except for swordplay. Percy was their father's heir, and Trist was perfectly content with his future as a Knight of Narvonne, supporting his brother and protecting their family's land. In a single night, a beautiful faerie of the Court of Shadows shatters everything Trist took for granted. Now an Exarch, Trist must tithe souls to Auberon, the Faerie King. Trading those souls grants Trist power, and he'll need it. Three hundred years ago, an ancient evil nearly destroyed humanity in a cataclysm.

Trist and his allies have defeated the daemon Adrammelech, and in the aftermath of the battle, the conflict between Narvonne and the Caliphate of Ma'in has been set aside. Reunited with his wife, Clarisant, at Falais castle, Trist is finally starting to feel comfortable with the duties and power of an Exarch. A message from the capital of Lutetia brings word that the Baron du Champs d'Or has rebelled, bringing a combined army of his own vassals and Kimmerian mercenaries to seize the throne for himself.

Captured and caged by the first Exarch, Avitus, Trist, and Acrasia must find a way not only to escape, but then to the ruined city of Vellatesia, where the Gate of Horn through which Faerie, Daemon, and Angelus alike came to Narvonne awaits. In the meanwhile, Ismet ibnah Salah rides toward a confrontation with Valeria, Exarch of the Plague Dancer, in the Caliphate; while Clairsant, along with Trist's friends, sails north to Raetia, where the faerie queen of winter awaits . . .
