About this listen

Wychwood–the realm of the fey–prepares for war against the humans who hate, hunt and kill them for coin.

Aided by the unclaimed, destructive power of the murdered and forgotten Winter Court, they ready their numbers for complete domination of the human realm.

Until Robin Vale reveals himself to be the last Icethorn heir: a hope for the humans he has grown up amongst, but to the detriment of many who would see him dead before ruining their years of preparation.

Robin finds allies during his discovery of a realm he has long since feared: Erix, a fey warrior who aids as a distraction during the long nights, and Althea, a stern princess hellbent on stopping the human hunters from killing her kind.

Thrust into a world of betrayal, murder and lies, he must survive long enough to make the choice: listen to fate and claim his family's power, or let it wreak havoc on a realm that turned its back on him for becoming who he was truly meant to be.

A dark evil is brewing, monsters have returned, and the scales of power are being forced by a hand who longs for revenge.

Audio narrated by Joel Leslie.

A little bit predictable in places, but still enough surprises to keep the plot going. Great world building and Joel gave extra life to the characters.

So glad Joel narrated this as I didn't enjoy the narrator of Ben's other books!

The story is good, there is a lot of dialogue and specific description of what's happening in each chapter. Lots of drama in the story within the Fae and Humans. It starts with action and its constant, there isn't a space to breath it feels at times, of course there are a little bit down time, but it feels like scenes drag on and on. The main character is very emotional but has been through a lot before and during the story, still does come across meek at times.

Overall it was a good story as its interesting to look into the fantasy story from the authors mind, you get a clear picture of the world and how the humans and fae move throughout this world created.

While I wont be reading the other books, if you liked the story and want to know what happens, then continue.

Decent

This story is weak, the main character is very weak and to me the narrator just didn’t suit. Will not get the next book.

Love this audiobook even though I’m not normally a big fan of the narrator but in this book he did great. Ben is a great author and all his books I’ve read are fantastic

Great story
