The Blood and Fangs

On the full moon after my 21st birthday, I was supposed to go through my first shift. Instead, I was left to huddle alone in the cold, a failure who couldn’t do the one thing expected of her. Now I have no mate, and I’m wondering if sticking with the pack is even worth it. Maybe it’s time I live among humans. That’s when a vampire shows up at my door and says he wants to claim me. While I might not know what I am, I’m pretty fricking certain that I’m not going to be mated to a bloodsucker. He might be a good friend, but that’s all he’ll ever be to me.

I’ve wanted to meet my wolf my entire life. But when I finally do, something else tags along. Something dangerous, hiding in the shadows, hungering for blood. It was sheer luck that I didn’t murder thousands. I don’t know how to control it, and if I can’t defeat it, I can never go home again. To make matters worse, my vampire protector, Aaron, is missing, and there’s a powerful mage trying to capture Fenrir, the only person capable of teaching me how to control my hunger. If he’s caught, I don’t know what I’ll do. 

Everyone else thinks I should flee and find a safe place to hide. They don’t think I can take her on, and who can blame them? The vampire queen is over 1000 years old. She’s had centuries to grow stronger and learn how to fight. I’ve had a month. I’m brutally outclassed. Almost. I possess one advantage if I can bring myself to use it; my dual heritage. There’s only one other like me on the planet, and at the height of his powers, he challenged the very gods themselves. It’s a double-edged sword, though, considering he went insane with bloodlust.
