Rob Madden

When Madden stops at Tres Rios, New Mexico on his way to California to pursue a doctorate in education, he doesn’t expect to stay past lunch. A run-in with the local drug lord halts all of his plans. To escape from a corrupt police force and legal action, Madden is given a choice in punishment—state prison, or a year of teaching troubled kids at the local rural school.

We know who killed your wife and daughters and where they are.” Rob Madden, still holding the cell phone in his shaking hands, tried to grasp what DEA Special Agent Bonnie McCord had just said. Three years ago, his wife and two young daughters were brutally murdered by terrorists as payback for his Special Ops drone strikes on al-Qaeda leaders in Yemen.

The US government denied knowledge of Bonnie McCord's actions and refused any diplomatic or military action to free her. The US president considered her expendable, because good relations with Bolivia outweighed the benefits of sending in a military team to free her. When a regional CIA director refused to accept the fact that the US was doing nothing to free McCord, he used his contacts and resources to gather a seasoned and experienced group of retired Special Forces to free her. Would the deals with the devil and illegal covert actions they employed be enough? Or would she be left behind?
