Jesus' Silent Years

This is a back story to the New Testament gospels, told by a Christian, who happens to be a clinical psychologist. This coming-of-age historical novel series of four books is about Jesus' life, from ages 13 to 30. Each book covers about four to five years. This book series of four volumes has only one focus - the wisest, sanest, and most beautiful person who has ever lived. 

In Jesus’ Silent Years: Parable, Jesus matures through temptation, doubt, and longing. He follows the classic path of the hero: Beginning in an unremarkable mudhole, unknown and undistinguished, innocent and naïve, in Foundations. He steadily moves down into the mainstream of growing up - leaving home, wrestling with his own unique God-man identity.

The classic hero’s journey is shaped like a checkmark - medium to low and high at the end. Stories in this third volume of four in Jesus’ Silent Years are at the bottom of the checkmark. These low points are the furnace that shaped his character more than any of the other books in this novel series. Spoiler alert - Jesus is imprisoned, abused by willful excess and absence, and depressed. This Son of Man is tempted and tried in all points, as we are. Embedded in these old stories is a training manual for how to live wisely in today’s world regardless of your faith, or lack of it.

This is the last novel in a four-volume series, Jesus’ Silent Years. All these stories are a back story to the biblical accounts of Jesus in the gospels. The stories happen in that time of his life between 13 and 30 years of age.
