22-year-old Andromeda Hunter came home from college for Thanksgiving Break to avoid running into her ex-boyfriend, but her whole world is turned upside-down when her parents get into a car accident on Black Friday. As she moves her family to Provo, Utah, to finish college, Andi must navigate the struggles of being a makeshift parent to her four youngest siblings while still trying to achieve her dreams.

Thrown shoes, screaming matches, and power struggles compound until Andi takes out her frustration on Dr. James Kent, a psychologist and associate professor at BYU, who she mistakes as a fellow student. With her grades in danger, Andi struggles to find the balance between home and school, but when she walks out of her psychology midterm, Andi has to decide if she will accept the help James offers or try to make things work on her own.
