Dark Impulse

It’s been 12 years since Jack Masterson last set foot on Lestaron Island. Fresh out of college and lacking a clear direction in life, he’s been asked by his aunt and uncle to travel back to the place he once called home to settle his recently deceased grandfather’s estate. Jack has little to look forward to in regard to his return, outside of a chance to reacquaint himself with Katie, his childhood friend and former crush. 

Temptation comes in many different forms. Jack Masterson thought he knew what temptation was, and he thought he could handle it. He was, of course, wrong in every sense of the word. Life as a vampire is defined by constant, seductive temptation. So far, Jack has managed to get by, thanks to the help of his childhood friend, Katie, and his loyal maid, Ryoko. But when a new enemy arises that threatens not just the town but the people closest to him, he’s left at a crossroads.

Jack’s throwing a party, and someone’s planning on crashing it. Now that Mira has returned to Lestaron Island, each day has forced him to juggle his place within the small-town community against his own darker impulses. When Jack receives an offer to ally himself with a group of ancient Valerian vampires living near The Origin, the fabled vampiric homeland, he’s forced to take more than just his own well-being into account. Enemies become allies, lies become truth, and blood flows freely.

Home on Lestaron Island, Jack finds himself with a new, much more domestic array of problems. The doubts unearthed by Volandar’s assertion that Jack’s father is still alive push him into an unorthodox and potentially illegal investigation. Now that Mira’s living at the mansion under the guise of his new gardener, he's also forced to carefully manage the unexpected toll it places on his relationship with Ryoko.

A new city, a new start, and the same old dance. After swearing an oath to Mezolak to save Ryoko’s life, Jack is left in service to the ancient, evil demon that’s taken possession of his father’s body. Surprisingly, it isn’t so bad.
