Henrik Monggaard Christensen is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Danish Navy and a specialist Tactical Co-ordinator who was tasked with the planning and execution of the Danish mission against the Somali pirates in the western Arabian Sea. In this book he reveals his version of the Danish counter-piracy efforts that he experienced from the front-seat of a Lynx helicopter.

This book is an attempt to bring comfort to anyone who may feel lonely, abandoned, or simply living on the margins of life. People who may be suffering from a feeling of having been forgotten by society and even by God. I have written it in the form of a series of reflections that engage with such feelings and try to offer a healing response. The book began life as a series I wrote, and still write, for residents of local care homes, where people have been locked down and felt locked away from those they love and who love them.

The author describes these poems as "stumblings" because they are stumbling attempts to understand what can seem beyond understanding. In his writing, he confronts the issues that are inescapably a part of being human, as he sees them playing out in the maelstrom of his own life. He takes us into areas of desperation, confusion, even despair, but also of acceptance, fulfilment, ecstasy, obstinate faith, and, above all, of tender love.
