Speedy Death (1929) is the debut novel by Gladys Mitchell, introducing her famous detective, the unorthodox psychoanalyst Mrs. Beatrice Bradley, who investigates a murder at a country house party where a woman’s body is found in a bathtub, leading to a series of events and suspects among the guests.

Rachel Innes, a middle-aged spinster, has barely settled in at the country house she has rented for the summer when a series of bizarre and violent events threaten to perturb her normally unflappable nature. A strange figure appears briefly in the twilight outside a window. At night, a rattling, metallic sound reverberates through dark halls, and - most disconcerting of all - the body of a strange man is found lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of a circular staircase.

Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are four recently orphaned siblings. Not wishing to live with their hard-hearted grandfather, whom they have never met because of his disapproval of their parents' marriage, the children strike out on their own. On a cold night, the children stop at a bakery to ask for food. They are invited to stay the night, but while there, the children overhear the baker and his wife discussing a plan to keep the older children as labor. The children escape and flee to the woods and create a home for themselves in an abandoned box-car in the forest.

Murderers is a trio of three monologues by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher. Each monologue is a confession of murder. The murders all take place on the same night on the premises of Riddle Key, a fictitious senior retirement center in Sarasota, Florida.
