Five years have passed. The city of Aramanth has become kinder - weaker. When the ruthless soldiers of the Mastery strike, the city is burned, and the Manth people are taken into slavery. Led by Hanno and Ira Hath, 32 mostly Manth survivors of the fall of the Mastery search for the fabled Homeland. Ira knows that as long as she feels the warmth on her face, despite the wintry conditions, they are heading in the right direction. She also knows that, according to the prophecy, she will die when they reach the homeland. She grows weaker with every step. Hanno must keep up the spirits of the marchers on the gruelling.

Death is a rather sinister and taboo topic but for Christians, it is one of relief. The Bible teaches us all how to die, and William Nicholson stresses the importance of life as a preparation. In order to gain the glory promised after death, Christ must always be present before it and be a prevailing force in our lives.

The sacrifice of Christ is where the redemption story of true believers begins. Nicholson reflects on the sacrifice of the God made flesh and its significance for the religious community. He refers to the intrinsic design of the sacrifice which blessed us all with a life of righteousness.

Where the body has its own healer in doctor, we also need one for our soul. The teachings and sacrifice of Christ can often serve as a spiritual balm but full acceptance of his divinity can serve a far greater purpose. William Nicholson explains how only the deeply religious can recognize their own spiritual disease and accept Christ as a physician of the soul.

We tend to leave a will to divide goods and possessions, but Christ left a will as well. William Nicholson explains to us the nature of Christ’s will. He states how this will is a gracious one and will be constituted once we accept the life and teachings of Christ.
