In the military, it is encouraged to write a letter to loved ones explaining how much you care for them, and also providing any important information they’d need to know. This is often called the ‘Just in Case’ letter. This story is based on a letter I wrote in 2010 to my husband before we both deployed to the Middle East. This story follows soldiers Scarlett and Atlas Harvick, a ‘just in case’ letter, and what happened to the family after one of them received one.

Shelby is an up and coming attorney in New York City, working for a major firm, and she's about to land her dream position as partner, that is if she can close the newest high profile case. Only this case concerns one of the biggest mafia in NY. The Morilla family. While it's not her first Rodeo prosecuting mob members, this one doesn't sit well with her. Just after the first day of the trial, her childhood friend Jon shows up at her office, to let her know of a terrible tragedy. Devastation hits hard, and she can't help but think their deaths were meant to send a message.
