Un giovane militante dell'estrema destra viene trovato morto nel centro storico di Catania. Le indagini del pm Biondi e del commissario Miceli si concentrano da subito sui centri sociali della sinistra antagonista. Ma il lettore, che grazie al narratore conosce risvolti della storia ignorati dai due "investigatori", capisce da subito che la pista non è quella giusta. La spiegazione è più complessa e va cercata ai piani alti, tra politica, imprenditoria e Cosa Nostra.
