"Nimeni nu traieste cu adevarat daca nu cade sub o forma sau alta de seductie. De fapt, oamenii ramân cel mai adesea acolo unde specia îi asaza: (în "bancul de heringi", de care vorbea un filozof danez), acolo unde se traieste dupa regula tuturor. Acolo ne instalam cu totii din clipa în care venim pe lume si tot acolo ramânem, cei mai multi dintre noi, pâna la sfârsit."

Licheaua este o figura eterna a umanitatii. Aceste pagini nu reprezinta insa un portret al lichelei universale, ci spectacolul intruparii ei in perioada numita "comunism". Licheaua care a facut cu putinta comunismul are desigur o multime din trasaturile lichelei eterne. Cu toate acestea, ceva o distinge de toate lichelele lumii: puterea ei de a se organiza si de a transforma lichelismul in regula a lumii si sistem.
