Joining us at Audible Studios is Alex Bertie, YouTube vlogger of his transgender journey and author of Trans Mission: My Quest to a Beard. When Alex was born, doctors took one look and put an 'F' for female on the birth certificate, based on genitals. When Alex was 15 he realised he was a transgender man, through many years of struggling with identity. After coming out to family and friends, Alex battled the health-care system in order to take male hormones, have surgery, change his name and grow a beard.

Why do we feel anxiety? How can we get past imposter syndrome? How can we be successfully creative? How do we effectively deal with grief? In this interview Robin Ince touches on some of these questions, looks back at how childhood experiences still affect him and enthuses about the latest books he’s read. He also explains why most of us have imagined dropping a baby and why writing the book put him in therapy.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Oscar Duke, a doctor working for the NHS who regularly contributes to The Surgery on BBC Radio 1, has appeared on Channel 4's 24 Hours in A&E, and presented his own documentary about albinism for BBC2, Born Too White. Dr Oscar Duke has written a book, How to Be a Dad, which gives a 'Doctor' section and a 'Dad' section for each and every stage of pregnancy through to birth and after, with handy tips for mums along the way.

The Patient Assassin covers the events of the Amritsar Massacre of 1919 in which hundreds of lives were lost when the army opened fire on a crowd with no warnings. An injured survivor, Udham Singh, vowed, wiping blood-soaked earth onto his forehead, that he would kill the men responsible. The Patient Assassin follows him through Africa and the US and across Europe to end up in front of Sir Michael O'Dwyer, who had sent the men to attack.

We spoke about how rewriting one book taught her to write novels, how she got to go in a human centrifuge and being a huge audiobook fan.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to discuss his book How to Survive the End of the World (When It’s in Your Own Head) is comedy writer Aaron Gillies. Most commonly known by his Twitter handle, TechnicallyRon, Gillies has written on the subject of mental health for various magazines and blogs. Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about playing the role of Mrs Hubbard in Murder on the Orient Express is lauded British actress Jane Asher. A key figure of the 1960s, Asher has worked extensively across TV, film and stage throughout her career, starting from childhood. Her most notable roles include Annie in Alfie, Angel Samson in the 2001 revival of Crossroads and Celia Ryder in the 1981 television version of Brideshead Revisited. Aside from acting, Asher is an accomplished entrepreneur, having published dozens of cake books and set up the Jane Asher Party Cakes shop in Chelsea.

Solicitor-turned-author Sarah Haywood joins us in the Audible studios to talk about her debut novel, The Cactus, a story of a control freak losing control. Sarah discusses the highs and lows of becoming a published author, turning her back on law to pursue a novel and how her own life influenced the book.

Van Ness was born in Quincy, Illinois, and has been openly gay throughout his life. In 2013, Van Ness was dressing the hair of a friend, Erin Gibson, who asked him to recap his webcast, Gay of Thrones, on her show, Funny or Die. From this, his Gay of Thrones series garnered more attention, and in 2018, it was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.

Rising to fame as a pop star as part of The Communards, Richard Coles has had a very varied career - he has worked as a vicar for several parishes after finding religion later in life, has appeared on many panel shows. He shared his life through his memoirs, including details of his civil partnership and grief following the death of his partner. Coles has begun writing fiction – the Canon Clement Mystery series – starting with Murder Before Evensong, and is with us to talk about the second in the series, A Death in the Parish.

In this International Women’s Day Audible Sessions Special, seven influential women discuss literature and gender equality and the importance of diversity in storytelling and reveal the women who inspire them. Ant and Dec met on CBBC's Byker Grove and an instant friendship was formed, on and off screen. In 2008, Cain began playing football for Coventry City but in 2012 he had to give up football after an injury put an end to his career. Cain then pursued reality TV, and appeared in shows such as Ex on the Beach, The Challenge and, more recently, SAS: Who Dares Wins. In 2020, life changed for Cain. His 8-week-old daughter, Azaylia, was diagnosed with cancer and passed away aged 8 months. Cain has done his utmost to raise awareness of childhood cancers and raise money, putting himself through grueling physical challenges.

Rory Stewart has had a far-reaching career over a multitude of different countries and positions. Having been educated at Eton and then Oxford University, Stewart went on to join the Foreign Office where he worked primarily in military intervention and international development, serving in Jakarta and Southern Iraq. Following these postings, Stewart walked alone across Afghanistan, relying on its people to house him on his way. He consequently wrote a book about this journey, and has gone on to become a bestselling author.
