Kurz vor seiner Abreise nimmt Sherlock Holmes den Auftrag eines jungen Mannes an, dessen Großonkel im All verschollen ist. Es wäre nicht Holmes, wenn er bei der Suche nach dem Verschollenen nicht auch noch einen Mordfall aufklären könnte. Dr. Watson nutzt die Gelegenheit, um sich etwas Ruhm zu verschaffen.

Der Erfinder Coolbros bittet Sherlock Holmes um Beistand, da auf ihn schon zwei Mordanschläge verübt wurden. Er vermutet seine wirtschaftsschädliche Erfindung als Ursache der Feindlichkeit. Der Fall scheint Holmes interessant genug, um sich seiner anzunehmen. Dr. Watson ist ihm natürlich wie immer behilflich.

Die Vorhersagen einer Hellseherin treffen so beängstigend ein, dass es nicht allen ihren Kunden und deren Angehörigen recht ist. Die Galaktische Union fragt sich, ob das mit rechten Dingen zugeht und beauftragt Sherlock Holmes, dem Treiben nachzugehen.

Der degradierte Major Ironside überlebt als Einziger eine Strafmission. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson sollen mithelfen herauszufinden, ob er Schuld am Tod seiner Kameraden trägt. Alles scheint dafür zu sprechen und eine neuerliche Landung am Unglücksort bringt eine ungeheuerliche Entdeckung.

Dieses Mal wird Sherlock Holmes von der Union dafür eingesetzt, einen Saboteur auf Alpha Mensae b aufzuspüren. Den dort angesiedelten Menschen wurde nämlich die elektrische Energie geraubt, was sie naturgemäß wütend macht. Mit der Hilfe von Dr. Watson kann der Meisterdetektiv den Schuldigen rasch ermitteln.

Sherlock Holmes wird von der Galaktischen Union zum Kunstkritiker ernannt. Vor allem, um den Künstler Pelwin Pokussa zu unterstützen, der ein Günstling des Präsidenten ist. Doch bei der Kunstausstellung entdeckt er eine Leiche.

Auf einem Exoplaneten wurden Ruinen einer modernen Zivilisation gefunden. Jene hat auch rätselhafte Zeichen hinterlassen. Ein Forscherteam sollte sie entschlüsseln, doch es scheiterte bisher. Daher wurde Sherlock Holmes beauftragt, sich als Dekodierer zu betätigen. Da geschieht ein Mord!

Ein Inspektor weilt an Bord der Ultimo-1, da er Daflon, der ein Freund von Sherlock Holmes geworden ist, eines gefährlichen Experiments verdächtigt. Bei einem Ausflug auf einen Exoplaneten geschieht noch dazu ein Mord. Holmes und Dr. Watson machen sich bei der Lösung nützlich, während der Inspektor weiter hinter Daflon her ist.
