Here's the deal. I'm 16, and I'm getting married. Super weird, I know. It was just me and my dad. We lived on a cattle ranch in Montana. He died suddenly, leaving me an orphan (which is still a thing). I'm 16 months away from being a legal adult, so I have two choices. A foster home or marry Jake Talley. My dad's foreman and really, my best friend. It's legal. It solves all my problems. Except now, I'm living with Riverbend's hottest cowboy - my husband in name only - and I'm still in high school. Where no one wants to date weird, married Ellie.

Ellie: Quick recap. My dad died leaving me an orphan. Jake stepped in and married me rather than letting me go to a foster home. Did I mention I was only 16 at the time? It was okay for a while until it wasn't. Because those feelings that I had for Jake as my oldest friend slowly turned into something else over the years. Feelings he could not deal with. So I did the right thing and divorced him. It was the right thing. I'm pretty sure it was the right thing. Okay it was probably the wrong thing...but I don't think either of us know where we go from here.

Sherlock Holmes wird von der Galaktischen Union zum Kunstkritiker ernannt. Vor allem, um den Künstler Pelwin Pokussa zu unterstützen, der ein Günstling des Präsidenten ist. Doch bei der Kunstausstellung entdeckt er eine Leiche.

Auf einem Exoplaneten wurden Ruinen einer modernen Zivilisation gefunden. Jene hat auch rätselhafte Zeichen hinterlassen. Ein Forscherteam sollte sie entschlüsseln, doch es scheiterte bisher. Daher wurde Sherlock Holmes beauftragt, sich als Dekodierer zu betätigen. Da geschieht ein Mord!

Auf Delta Pavonis f herrschen raue Sitten, denn dort haben sich Kriminelle außerhalb des Unions-Gebietes angesiedelt. Dennoch beschwert sich der Teilnehmer eines Kongresses, man habe ihm seine goldene Uhr gestohlen. Holmes soll sie dringend wiederbeschaffen, denn sie birgt ein Geheimnis.

Der Innenminister der Galaktischen Union betraut Sherlock Holmes mit der Suche nach einem Systemkritiker, der von der Bildfläche verschwunden ist. Die umfangreiche Akte über diesen Unbequemen erscheint dem Meisterdetektiv jedoch unvollständig. Dann geschieht etwas Unerwartetes und die Ereignisse überstürzen sich.

Der Familien- und Fortpflanzungsminister der Union beauftragt Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson mit Ermittlungen in einem diffizilen Scheidungsfall. Ein Ex-Raumfahrer wähnt seine Gattin von bösen Einflüssen aus dem All besessen. Die schöne Frau hat es besonders Dr. Watson angetan.

Die Voraussagen einer Hellseherin treffen so beängstigend ein, dass es nicht allen ihren Kunden und deren Angehörigen recht ist. Die Galaktische Union fragt sich, ob das mit rechten Dingen zugeht und beauftragt Sherlock Holmes, dem Treiben nachzugehen.

Kaum tritt ein neuer Kampfpilot seinen Dienst auf der Ultimo-1 an, da bezichtigt ihn ein anonymer Briefschreiber auch schon als Mörder. Ein Fall für Sherlock Holmes, der zusammen mit Dr. Watson dem jungen Mann auf den Zahn fühlen soll.

Unverhofft wurde Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson die Ehre zuteil, auf einem Vergnügungs-Raumschiff einchecken zu dürfen. Trotz herzlicher Begrüßung durch den eitlen Kapitän, ahnt Holmes schon bevorstehende Detektivarbeit. Tatsächlich ereigneten sich an Bord Fälle vorübergehenden Wahnsinns.

Auf einer Raumstation wurde ein Gewerkschaftsvertreter ermordet. Die beiden tödlichen Messerstiche liegen zeitlich zwei Stunden auseinander. Das gibt Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson Rätsel auf. Allerdings nicht lange.
