I was born in 1964 in Prince George British Columbia on December 18. My biological father was a nice guy when he was not drinking. My mother and he had a very rocky relationship. She left him when I was 8 years old. About three months after they broke up, she found the love of her life, Al Thun. He had just moved from Vancouver and bought the National hotel.

As a child from a religious family, I didn’t like to pray. There are several reasons why I didn’t like to pray, but the top reasons were: I didn’t understand why I needed to pray and didn’t know how to pray. Grown-up prayers can be a little bit too difficult for younger minds. They have too many big words that sometimes make it too hard to understand.
