Story0
Singer-songwriter David Berkeley is a romantic realist, known for his ability to look at the human condition in all its complexity and give us luminous songs full of sunshine and anguish, melancholy and delight. He is a natural storyteller, as anyone who has seen him perform or heard his piece on This American Life knows. In 140 Goats and a Guitar, his authorial debut, Berkeley proves that he is an equally gifted writer, with a voice as a distinct as the rich baritone he sings with.

Story0
Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous, or simply Three Dialogues, is a 1713 book on metaphysics and idealism by George Berkeley. The book was written as a response to the criticism of his work A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge. Berkeley faced opposition from many philosophers who held to the Platonic view. He argues that sensible qualities like color, sound, temperature and even shape are not inherent in matter, but are ascribed and understood by the mind.

Welcome to the audiobook version of The Free Brontosaurus, David Berkeley's novella comprising 10 interweaving stories, complete with his accompanying album of 10 songs, one for each character. This is an incredible merging of genres, exploring the relationship between literature and music, between prose and lyric. Here, you get the stories and the songs sequenced together. These are gently written narratives of isolation, describing characters disconnected from home and community.

Berkeley uses the Socratic mode of inquiry in Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous to question fundamental beliefs about knowledge and reality. These dialogues are between Hylas (whose name is derived from the ancient Greek word for matter) and Philonous, whose name means "lover of mind". The new physical sciences developed in the 17th century supported the materialism proposed by Thomas Hobbes and several other philosophers.

The story concerns the hand of fate writing across the pages of time. It seems that there was one man who could read what was written on those pages, and he made it his business to let the world - and certain individuals know about it these particular individuals learn to fear the prophecies in a very special sort of way they usually died....
