Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was born September 29, 1547, was a Spanish writer widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language and one of the world's pre-eminent novelists. He is best known for his novel Don Quixote, a work often cited as both the first modern novel and one of the pinnacles of world literature. Much of his life was spent in poverty and obscurity, many of its details are disputed or unknown, and the bulk of his surviving work was produced in the three years preceding his death.

It is one of the earliest canonical novels, and is regularly cited as the best work of fiction ever published. A nameless hidalgo read so many chivalric romances that he loses his sanity and decides to set out into the world as a knight, to bring justice under the name Don Quixote. The delusional hidalgo then recruits a simple farmer, Sancho Panza, whose unique wit proves a marvelous addition to Don Quixote's idealistic bouts.

Don Quixote is a knight-errant determined to keep the spirit of chivalry alive in 17th-century Spain. Accompanied by his sidekick, Sancho Panza, Don Quixote conjures up a love interest, meddles with other people’s lives, and fights with “evil giants” that are in fact just windmills. How much of Don Quixote’s adventures are real? Has he lost his mind . . . or is he the only lucid one in an excessively cynical world?

After reading chivalric romances, Don Quixote becomes infatuated with the idea of being a heroic knight and with the help of his squire sets out to do exactly that. Although Sancho’s adventures continually get him into trouble, he grows and learns from those mishaps, becoming a character that will enchant the listener long after the last words.

La historia sigue a dos jóvenes nobles, Carriazo y Avendaño, que, por deseo de aventura, deciden abandonar sus acomodadas vidas para vivir como pícaros. Llegan a Toledo y se hospedan en una posada donde conocen a Costanza, una hermosa joven que trabaja como fregona. Fascinados por su belleza y noble porte, los jóvenes descubren que Costanza no es una sirvienta común, sino que es de origen noble, lo que da lugar a enredos, identidades ocultas y finalmente un desenlace feliz en el que todos recuperan su verdadero lugar social.

Alonso Quijano, más conocido como Don Quijote de la Mancha, se volvió loco por leer demasiados libros de caballerías. Entonces se disfrazó de caballero, cogió su lanza, montó en su caballo Rocinante y, acompañado por su inseparable escudero Sancho Panza, salió a combatir el mal. Así, creyéndose un auténtico héroe, vivió las más increíbles aventuras: luchó contra villanos y monstruos, gigantes y brujos malvados... y defendió a su bella amada, Dulcinea del Toboso, ante todo el que osara poner en duda su belleza.
