After there was trouble on the homefront and the President had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become armageddon.

My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

Boring, yes. Dangerous? No, the trip is not supposed to be dangerous, never has been. Pozostaje mu żywić nadzieję, że zdoła zachować choć nikłe wspomnienia o cywilizacjach zamieszkujących Drogę Mleczną. Chyba że Joe Bishop i Wesoła Banda Piratów raz jeszcze dokonają niemożliwego.

Wesoła Banda Piratów jest w rozpaczliwej sytuacji. Skippy i pułkownik Joe Bishop przepadli bez wieści, maxolhxańska sztuczna inteligencja przejęła władzę na "Walkirii", a załoga "Latającego Holendra" musi jak najszybciej znaleźć sposób, by ocalić nie tylko siebie, ale również Ziemian niedawno uwolnionych z więzienia na planecie Rikers. Co gorsza, Maxolhxowie i Rindhalu zauważyli nietypowe zachowanie tuneli czasoprzestrzennych. Rozpoczynają wspólne śledztwo, które może doprowadzić ich do Ziemi. Los całej ludzkości staje pod znakiem zapytania.

Wesoła Banda Piratów ocaliła świat już kilkukrotnie, teraz jednak musi pogodzić się z tym, co nieuniknione. Ziemię czeka zagłada. Piratom pozostaje jedynie przetransportowanie kilku tysięcy Ziemian w bezpieczne miejsce, zanim kosmiczni najeźdźcy zniszczą ojczystą planetę ludzi. Choć to niezupełnie prawda. Pułkownik Joe Bishop i jego załoga mogą zrobić coś jeszcze. Zadać nieprzyjacielowi tak druzgocący cios, by pożałował, że kiedykolwiek usłyszał o Ziemi i jej mieszkańcach.

Zasłużony w boju lotniskowiec Sił Ekspedycyjnych ONZ "Latający Holender" wraca wreszcie na Ziemię, po szeregu wyjątkowo udanych misji, dzięki którym po raz kolejny udało się ocalić świat. Teraz okręt wymaga naprawy, a załoga marzy o chwili wytchnienia od tajnych operacji i zmagań z zaciekłym, potężnym nieprzyjacielem. Czy marzenia się spełniają? W przypadku Wesołej Bandy Piratów – niekoniecznie.

Żołnierze słabnących Sił Ekspedycyjnych ONZ pozostawieni sami sobie na kontrolowanej przez obcych planecie Paradise dostają szansę, by dowieść swej wartości podczas prostej misji szkoleniowej w kosmosie, na pokładzie okrętu pełnego młodych ruharskich kadetów. Niestety podczas misji dochodzi do nieprzewidzianych, dramatycznych zdarzeń, a wszystkim mieszkańcom Paradise zaczyna grozić śmiertelne niebezpieczeństwo. Ostatnia nadzieja w Wesołej Bandzie Piratów. Jednak aby pospieszyć na ratunek, załoga „Latającego Holendra” musi najpierw sama uporać się z własnymi problemami...
