Cash Hollow is where I grew up; it was an unusual place. We were surrounded by hills on each side of the road, with offshoot veins of other roads crisscrossing throughout the hollow. Animals were like something from the prehistoric age, from giant box turtles to otters; it was wild, but most of all, it could be scary. It was dark without any overhead street, lamps, or even guardrails to keep a car from tumbling down mountainous ravines; it was a magical, treacherous, spooky place to grow up, and I loved it.

Rico is a small, pale man, but he has guts, endurance and a steely single-mindedness. When Vettori sends the gang out to rob a local nightclub, Rico shoots a cop who pulls a gun on him.
