Der Versuch, die SAMSON von den Aliens zu säubern, ist grausam fehlgeschlagen - und eines der Monster streift nun frei und unkontrolliert durch die MARION. Während die Crew noch rätselt, wie das alles passieren und sich die Schleuse einfach öffnen konnte, steht für Ripley der Grund dafür fest: Es war Ash, der Android! Er muss sich auch Zugang zu den Systemen außerhalb der NARCISSUS verschafft haben. Doch niemand will ihr glauben.

Die MARION kommt der Atmosphäre des Planeten immer näher - und droht, darin zu verglühen. Damit die Crew überhaupt eine Chance hat, sich zu retten, muss die Brennstoffzelle der NARCISSUS ausgetauscht werden. Und da alle Energieträger auf dem Planeten lagern, sehen Hooper und die anderen nur eine Möglichkeit: Sie müssen mit der letzten intakten Landefähre zu den Minen fliegen. Doch ausgerechnet in der SAMSON lauern die Aliens auf frische Beute.

Das letzte Alien ist tot. Die Mission von Ash scheint gescheitert. Und Hooper, Ripley und Kasyanov sind am Leben. Doch sowohl Ripley als auch der Doc haben schwerste Verletzungen davongetragen. Während die MARION also droht, in der Atmosphäre des Planeten zu verglühen, müssen sich beide einer Behandlung im Med-Pod unterziehen. Doch Ash kontrolliert mittlerweile alle Systeme der MARION, und er hat noch längst nicht aufgegeben.

Ash arbeitet weiter unbemerkt an seiner Mission, die Crew mit den Aliens in Berührung zu bringen. Und es sieht ganz so aus, als würde er seinem Ziel immer näher kommen. Zwar konnte sich die Crew fürs Erste in einen kleinen Hohlraum retten, in Sicherheit sind sie dadurch aber nicht - im Gegenteil: Das Ganze wirkt wie eine tödliche Sackgasse. Doch während Hooper und die anderen verzweifelt nach einer Möglichkeit suchen, die Höhle wieder zu verlassen und den rettenden Fahrstuhl zu erreichen, macht Sneddon eine unglaubliche Entdeckung.

Der Schock über die Ereignisse sitzt bei den Überlebenden immer noch tief - auch bei Ripley, die mittlerweile wach und auf der MARION ist: Sie muss nicht nur verarbeiten, wie lange sie tatsächlich im Hyperschlaf verbracht hat, sondern auch, wo sie gelandet ist: In einem erneuten Albtraum. Während Hooper und Sneddon darüber nachdenken, wie sich die Crew mit Hilfe der NARCISSUS retten kann, wird Ripley die Frage nicht los, warum sie ausgerechnet auf die MARION gestoßen ist.

Die Crew muss sich immer tiefer in das Raumschiff flüchten, um den Aliens zu entkommen - und mit jedem Schritt scheinen sie dabei mehr über die Kultur der Außerirdischen zu erfahren, die dieses Schiff erbaut haben. Sneddon besteht darauf, immer wieder anzuhalten, um ihre Entdeckungen für die Nachwelt zu dokumentieren. Doch als die Gruppe auf eine Kammer voller Eier stößt, droht sie mit ihrer Neugier zu weit zu gehen - mit fatalen Folgen.
