Die Crew ist mittlerweile auf dem Planeten gelandet. Begleitet von der Angst, jeden Moment auf weitere Aliens zu treffen, versucht man, sich zu den Minen vorzukämpfen. Doch die seltsamen Zufälle und Systemfehler häufen sich - weshalb Ripley nicht müde wird, davor zu warnen, dass Ash seinen teuflischen Plan auch hier unten weiter verfolgt. Und es scheint tatsächlich so, als wäre der bösartige Android ihnen immer einen Schritt voraus.

Die gute Nachricht: Die Crew hat es tatsächlich zurück zu MARION geschafft! Und hier gilt es keine Zeit zu verlieren. Während Hooper die Brennstoffzelle in die NARCISSUS einbauen muss, sollen die anderen Lebensmittel und Medikamente einsammeln, um für die lange und beschwerliche Reise gewappnet zu sein. Doch nicht nur Ash will das Team davon abhalten, die MARION lebend zu verlassen - auch das letzte verbliebene Alien lauert irgendwo im Schiff noch immer auf frische Beute.

Trotz schwerer Verletzungen und eines herben Verlusts ist es der Crew gelungen, die rettende Ebene 4 zu erreichen, auf der die dringend benötigte Brennstoffzelle lagert. Und selbst Sneddon schöpft nun neue Hoffnung: Der Facehugger hat sich von ihrem Gesicht gelöst - und offenbar geht es ihr gut. Der Rückweg zur MARION kann also endlich beginnen. Doch Ripley weiß, dass es nur eine Frage der Zeit ist, bis ein Alien aus ihr herausplatzt.

Der Raumfrachter MARION umkreist den Planeten LV178, aus dessen Minen das wertvolle Element Trimonit gewonnen werden soll. Seit zwei Tagen besteht jedoch keinerlei Funkkontakt zu den Minenarbeitern, und die Crew auf dem Mutterschiff macht sich langsam Sorgen - allen voran Captain Jordan und ihr Chefmechaniker Chris Hooper. Als die Verbindung zu den Kollegen plötzlich wieder steht, ist die Erleichterung zunächst groß.

Der Versuch, die SAMSON von den Aliens zu säubern, ist grausam fehlgeschlagen - und eines der Monster streift nun frei und unkontrolliert durch die MARION. Während die Crew noch rätselt, wie das alles passieren und sich die Schleuse einfach öffnen konnte, steht für Ripley der Grund dafür fest: Es war Ash, der Android! Er muss sich auch Zugang zu den Systemen außerhalb der NARCISSUS verschafft haben. Doch niemand will ihr glauben.

Die MARION kommt der Atmosphäre des Planeten immer näher - und droht, darin zu verglühen. Damit die Crew überhaupt eine Chance hat, sich zu retten, muss die Brennstoffzelle der NARCISSUS ausgetauscht werden. Und da alle Energieträger auf dem Planeten lagern, sehen Hooper und die anderen nur eine Möglichkeit: Sie müssen mit der letzten intakten Landefähre zu den Minen fliegen. Doch ausgerechnet in der SAMSON lauern die Aliens auf frische Beute.

Das letzte Alien ist tot. Die Mission von Ash scheint gescheitert. Und Hooper, Ripley und Kasyanov sind am Leben. Doch sowohl Ripley als auch der Doc haben schwerste Verletzungen davongetragen. Während die MARION also droht, in der Atmosphäre des Planeten zu verglühen, müssen sich beide einer Behandlung im Med-Pod unterziehen. Doch Ash kontrolliert mittlerweile alle Systeme der MARION, und er hat noch längst nicht aufgegeben.
