English explorer Travers is determined to track down the mythical Abominable Snowmen which are said to roam the Himalayas. When the Doctor and his companions visit the nearby Detsen monastery they discover that the Yeti are all-too prominent. In fact, they are out to kill anyone who comes near. With Travers' help the travellers discover that the monastery is in the grip of the evil Great Intelligence, a disembodied force which has taken control of the High Lama....

Rejuvenates fear the backlash caused by bad drugs: they want nothing to interfere with their pursuit of long life—or the profit that comes from promising it to others. Neighbor states fear the aggressive expansion of the Familias Regnant, fuelled by population growth and extended lifespan. Within the Regular Space Service, those who have received experimental rejuvenations fear they may have been intentionally given bad drugs. Esmay Suiza's family fears that her marriage to an offworlder will damage their position.

Still working on securing the partnership with Grace Milligan for her fuel refinery while in Fairzie, Trader and Marsh cross paths with a scouting party that has followed stories about a fuel source. That’s only the tip of the spear. That scouting party has been sent by Ironhand Jackson, the boss of El Dorado. In El Dorado, Ant, a woman who works as an enforcer for Hoyt Lynch, the self-made lord of Boardwalk, arrives to kill Jackson. Lynch has learned of the fuel refinery’s existence and desperately needs it because his own fuel reserves are running out.

Er war über eine lange Zeit tiefgefroren und erfährt nun zusammen mit der Biologin Bianca, dem Navigator Strabos und der Raumfahrttechnikerin Mirina den Sinn der Mission. Die Erde ist durch eine Katastrophe vor 2 Millionen Jahren zerstört worden und die 4 sollen auf Andromeda eine neue Heimat finden. Überraschend kommt ein Abgesandter einer fremden, freundlich gesinnten Lebensform an Bord. Andoro gibt sich als Andromedaner zu erkennen und leistet wertvolle Hilfe.

Das Raumschiff Galaxis befindet sich am Rande des Andromedanebels. Hier wird das Raumschiff von den Andromedanern mit einem Überlichtantrieb ausgerüstet, um den vierten Spiralnebel von Andromeda zu erreichen, wo die Hoffnung besteht, dass Eric, Bianca, Mirina und Strabos eine Heimat für sich und 250.000 Menschen finden können. Auf seinem langen Weg wird das Raumschiff angegriffen und die Crew muss sich im Gefecht bewähren. Doch wer sind die Angreifer?
