Listening to the Bible will change the way you understand scripture. The stories and poems and instructions comes in through the ears and consume your whole being as God's word becomes part of a living experience. The Common English Bible is not simply a revision or update of an existing translation. Written by the evangelist John Mark, a traveling companion of both the Apostle Peter and Saint Paul, the Gospel of Mark is believed to be a compilation of the sermons of Peter. This shortest of the four accounts of the life of Jesus Christ often uses the word "immediately" in compellingly relating many of the teachings also recorded by Matthew, Luke, and John.

In 1 Samuel we continue our narrative. Samuel is the last of the judges, and with his end approaching the people demand a king “so we can be like all the other nations.” As God tells Samuel, “it is not you they have rejected, they have rejected me as their king.” And indeed they have. The people choose a king, Saul of the tribe of Benjamin. Saul will rule Israel for an entire generation, but although he looks like a king, he does not have the heart of a king, and the weight of kingship crushes him.

The title of my book basically says what my book is about: Most Gentile believers in Jesus Christ don't know how important the Jews have been, and are, in God's plan for His creation. Many don't realize that the one they have put their faith in (Jesus) is a Jew. As a Gentile believer in Jesus/Yeshua the Christ/Messiah of God's chosen people Israel (the Jews), my study of God's written Word over many years has caused me to see how important the Jew is in God's plan for His creation.

But David has, in fact, no legitimate claim to the kingship; indeed, he has been working for a decade as a mercenary for Israel’s Philistine enemies.
