The Tao Te Ching is a compilation of meditations, comprised of 81 short chapters. Each chapter reflects on the beauty and mystical nature of the Tao (the Way). Tao Te Ching (Book of the Way) is one of the oldest written works that provides advice and guidance on perspective, inner strength, divine power, and moral excellence, among other principles of the universe. This 21st-century edition has been translated so that ancient text (originally written in classical Chinese in the fourth century BC) can be understood and enjoyed by the average listener.

The aphorism, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," not only embraces the whole of a man's being but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts. As the plant springs from, and could not be without, the seed, so every act of a man springs from the hidden seeds of thought and could not have appeared without them. This applies equally to those acts called "spontaneous" and "unpremeditated" as to those which are deliberately executed.

The Antichrist is a book by the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, originally published in 1895. The reference to the Antichrist is not intended to refer to the biblical Antichrist but is rather an attack on the slave morality and apathy of Western Christianity. Nietzsche's basic claim is that Christianity is a poisoner of western culture and perversion of the words of and practice of Jesus.

The Tao Te Ching has a long and complex textual history. Known versions and commentaries date back two millennia, including ancient bamboo, silk, and paper manuscripts discovered in the 20th century. The Tao Te Ching is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism. The name Tao Teo Ching translates into English as The Book of the Way and of Virtue.

Before we begin, ensure that you have found a comfortable position for this guided meditation. It does not matter if you sit or stand, but you should feel as comfortable as possible. Do not worry about aligning your spine or sitting in a meditative posture. Simply find a place in the room where your body feels comfortable and relaxed.

As you settle into your bed, move your arms and legs to a comfortable position where they can easily relax. Adjust your pillow so that it supports your neck and your head. Arrange your blankets and sheets just how you like them. Once you’ve made yourself comfortable, allow your eyes to fall closed. The world has done its work for you for today, and you have completed your work for the world. It is now time to begin to turn your mind off and relax as you prepare for sleep.

Namaste! Today we will work on a basic, introductory Vipassana meditation. Unlike some forms of meditation, Vipassana meditation does not ask you to focus on an object, a thought, or a phrase. It will not take you on an imaginary journey to made-up places in your mind. Instead, it will ask you to focus on the connection between your mind and your body and to allow your thoughts to come and go.

Make yourself comfortable where you are. Whether you are sitting or lying down, begin to feel your body sink into your seat, into the floor, into the cushion beneath you as you begin to relax. You may leave your eyes open, focusing on one spot on the wall or ceiling. You may close your eyes, allowing the light to play off your eyelids - whichever is comfortable to you.
