Britannien, A. D. 52: Die westlichen Stämme planen einen Aufstand. Während Centurio Macro seine Wunden pflegen muss, führt Präfekt Cato eine Legion gegen die Stammeskämpfer an. Doch der Winter naht. Cato und seine Männer kämpfen gegen erbarmungslose Kälte und tödliche Schneestürme. Unterdessen kommt Macro ein schrecklicher Verdacht. Soll Catos Truppe im Zeichen einer Intrige geopfert werden? Wir schreiben das Jahr 54 A. D. Das mächtige römische Reich erstreckt sich vom Atlantik bis zu den Ufern des Nils. Mit brutaler Gewalt zwingt Rom der übrigen Welt seinen Willen auf. Britannien, A. D. 52: Präfekt Cato und Centurio Macro, die besten Kämpfer der Legion, führen ihre Mannen weiter im Kampf gegen die einheimischen Stämme unter dem mächtigen Anführer Caratacus. Moral und Stärke der römischen Truppen sind durch unausgesetzte Attacken ausgehöhlt. In dieser verzweifelten Situation wählen Cato und Macro den direkten Angriffsweg ohne Rücksicht auf Verluste.
