This is the compilation of all five booklets written by Robert C. Hickle, written between 1976 to 1980. He reflects on his 40-plus years of experience counseling alcoholics, addicts, and their families; on the profession of addiction counseling, and on societal attitudes about alcoholism and addiction in general. Each booklet is divided into short chapters with titles such as "Alcoholic Lie a Lot" and "Sober and in Trouble" - all in a jargon-free, plain-speaking, down-to-earth style that reflects Bob's statement "I write like I talk."
