When one thinks of the world’s first cities, Sumer, Memphis, and Babylon are some of the first to come to mind, but if the focus then shifts to India, then Harappa and Mohenjo Daro will likely come up. These cities owe their existence to India’s oldest civilization, known as the Indus Valley Civilization or the Harappan Civilization, which was contemporary with ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt, and had extensive contacts with the former, making it one of the most important early civilizations in the world.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on April 13, 1919, marking a dark day in India’s freedom struggle. On Vaisakhi, thousands gathered in Amritsar to protest the Rowlatt Act. General Dyer ordered indiscriminate firing on the unarmed crowd, resulting in immense loss of life. This brutal incident became a symbol of colonial oppression. Jallianwala Bagh is now a revered monument of sacrifice. The book narrates the story of India’s fight for independence.

He soon finds himself in debtors' prison, however, and it's while in jail that he first acquires the printing press that sets him on a collision course with the British East India Company.

A Letter to a Hindu (also known as "A Letter to a Hindoo") was a letter written by Leo Tolstoy to Tarak Nath Das on 14 December 1908. The letter was written in response to two letters sent by Das, seeking support from the Russian author and thinker for India's independence from colonial rule.
