The story is set in London and is about David, a child of various ages from new born baby to a boy of about six, his mother, Mary, and the author. Peter Pan is a fictional character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie. A free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland.

Peter Pan is a special little boy, dressed in withered leaves, who does not want to grow up. He lives with the fairies far, far away, on the magical island of Neverland. One night, Peter Pan flies into the room of Wendy and her brothers, Michael and John. He sprinkles them with magic pollen and shows them how to ride the wind and fly. The story of Peter Pan, retold by Daniel O'Connor from the fairy play by Sir J. M. Barrie. O'Connor took the story from the original play, with the approval of Barrie, and shortened it into a book. This shorter story was published before Barrie wrote the longer novel Peter and Wendy, using the same plot and characters.
