It is nearly Christmas and the festivities are getting planned in our household, from matching pjs, to a Christmas bandana, to a special advent calendar for Cash.  

We are jumping straight into the podcast after a weekend stay with our nieces.

We are back after a little break with a big update on Cash's progress as a puppy with separation anxiety. We finally met our new trainer who really opened our eyes to why Cash may be acting in the way that he does, and it all stems from stress apparently. Our beloved Jack Russell puppy is stressed!

It wouldn't be a You, Me and the Dog podcast without an update on us, and this week we have started to teach Karen to drive, and we are sure this is going to feature quite a lot on this podcast!

Every once in a while, you have to have a little rant, especially when there are strangers in the world that have to give you their two pennies worth!

On this week’s episode of You, Me and the Dog, Aimee shares with you her stranger encounter who just couldn’t keep his opinions to himself! Apart from that, Cash had a busy week, he met our nieces for the first time, his first proper encounter with children and it was to say the least an eye opener in how much he has FOMO!

Leaving your dog alone on its own must be the most challenging part of owning a dog. No one likes to know their puppy is home alone, just longing for your return. In this week's episode, we finally update you on Cash's separation anxiety. This issue has been brewing for a long time and we thought we made progress with Cash and leaving him alone, however after we had covid we went right back to the beginning. We can no longer leave Cash on his own, not even for 15 minutes.

On this episode of You, Me and the Dog, we introduce you to the first big hurdle that we faced with Cash. This hurdle was his fear of the car, we tried so many different things, and spent a lot of time googling "How to get your dog comfortable with the car". What worked, in the end, was a random idea that Aimee thought of, listen to find out if this is something that could help you!

We thought it would be nice to also keep you updated with what we have done that week and it was a big week for our puppy Cash. He went on his first train journey, stayed with his dog sitter and had a sleepover with his grandparents, which meant we had our first night away since getting him. We feel like proper parents! 

It also wouldn't be an episode of You, Me and the dog without some comical stories that have with Cash.

If you're thinking of getting a puppy or already have one then join us, Aimee and Karen on a comical journey, as we navigate the realities of owning a puppy. From the highs and the lows and all the things in between.

We are 6 months into having our Jack Russell puppy Cash. Cash is a wee rascal, he is very clever but he’s a wee nervous pup and that comes with lots of hurdles to overcome. Some of the questions we have had along the way are “How to train your puppy in the car?”, “How to stop your puppy from eating rubbish off the floor?”, “Does my puppy have separation anxiety?". The questions are endless, and we have tried many different training techniques. We have found some that have worked and some that haven't.

We thought it would be therapeutic to share the true realities of owning a puppy. It can be quite isolating, and it brings a whole new pressure to your relationship. We have realised that we are very different dog mums and with that comes disagreements. We created this podcast to share our honest, and fun journey with you. We hope from our podcast that you see, like we did that if you don't laugh at yourself then what else can you do? Oh and maybe you will learn a trick or two, no pun intended.

Our first episode introduces us as a couple, our dog Cash and how we got to where we are now along with funny stories.
