We're back with the first installment of a somewhat regular subseries focusing on the bridge between cinema and wrestling. And in true Working Stiffs fashion, we had to open the box up with an exploration of Japan and the puro stars that found their way onto the silver screen.

We watched 4 movies for the main focus. We start with a quick remembrance of Antonio Inoki and his many incarnations in tv before going into Rikidozan: A Hero Extraordinaire. Then we discuss the absurdity of life through the lens of Minoru Kawasaki by way of Akira Nogami being the legit second best option to a squid in The Calamari Wrestler (46:34) and literally everyone wanting to get in Kota Ibushi's flawless briefs in Daikaiju Mono (58:35). We close with thoughts on the rare gem that is My Dad Is A Heel Wrestler (1:11:02) starring Tanahashi, proving you're never TOO young to get wised up to wrestling. We're back for Season 2 of the Working Stiffs Wrestlecast with a whole new vibe! Today we'll be taking a stroll down memory lane as we examine the bizarre time capsule that is 2009's Wrestle Kingdom III. We spend some time on what made this an interesting watch for us, the things that surprised us looking back (and what didn't), why it was probably an underrated turning point for NJPW, and everything in between. Another week in the books for the Stiffs and we came loaded with two fists full of takes to shoot off. First, Schaaf goes scorched earth on AEW's handling of its womens' division one final time before giving credit where its due after a largely excellent edition of Dynamite. Then Schaaf updates Brady's lazy ass on the G1 (47:10) with a particular focus on Juice v Finlay. Finally, we close out with a segment dedicated to wrestling themes, what they mean to us, why they're important and which ones are our favorites (53:43)

The bi-weekly experimental extravaganza is back and we're diving head first into 2 full weeks worth of joshi, puro and indie action! We start off with Stardom talk going from Midsummer champs through the three road shows to the very first Stardom in Showcase! Then we take a breeze through the July 10 Sendai Girls Chronicle show (59:50) before breaking down all the happenings in TJPW's Princess Cup tournament up to night 4 (1:10:01). Then we get into GCW's hilarious first Settlement Series show (1:30:22) before I gush over Masashi Takeda's triumphant return at Freedoms Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival (1:41:36).
