• When Getting Things Done Still Leaves You Drained with Heather Chauvin
    Aug 12 2025

You're crushing your to-do list, checking off task after task, but by 3 PM you feel like you've been hit by a truck. Sound familiar? That was my guest Heather Chauvin's reality until a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2013 changed everything.

As a mom of three boys and a new business owner, Heather was in the thick of juggling it all. She was getting things done, hitting deadlines, and managing everything on her plate. But she was also completely burned out, resentful, and running on fumes with an internal ache that this wasn't sustainable. Her cancer diagnosis became an unexpected teacher, showing her that there's a whole other layer to how we manage our time and energy.

Today, Heather shares what she discovered about energetic time management and why asking "How do I want to feel?" might be more powerful than asking "What do I need to do?"

    In This Episode, We Cover:

    • Why energy management works alongside your planning system
    • How to spot invisible energy drains in your daily life
    • Why women automatically shrink themselves (and how to stop)
    • The simple question that changes how you make decisions
    • What alignment actually feels like in real life
    • How to stop doing emotional work for other people

  • How to Survive Back to School Without Losing Your Mind
    Aug 5 2025

Back to school season hits every August and September like a freight train. New schedules, earlier wake-ups, lunch packing, school supplies... suddenly you're drowning in chaos before you've even figured out what works.

Most parents take one of two approaches: either wing it completely or try to map out every detail before school starts. Both are recipes for disaster. There's a better way that doesn't involve losing your sanity or creating impossible expectations.

In this episode, I'm sharing the two specific strategies I use every single back to school season (and why the order matters). These aren't complicated systems or overwhelming checklists. They're simple, strategic approaches that help you create sustainable routines while staying calm during those crucial first two weeks.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • The biggest mistake parents make in those first two weeks of school
    • Why most back to school routines fail before they even start
    • My secret weapon for staying calm during the morning chaos
    • How to collect the right data to set yourself up for success all year
    • Simple tweaks that make the difference between surviving and thriving

  • The One List Rule That Stops Overwhelm
    Jul 29 2025

Juggling seven different lists for work, home, kids, and everything else? No wonder you can't figure out what to prioritize. When you're bouncing between multiple lists trying to decide what's most important, your brain goes into decision fatigue overdrive and suddenly everything feels urgent and overwhelming.

Here's the truth: the problem isn't that you're bad at prioritizing. The problem is that multiple lists are working against your brain's natural decision-making process. Today I'm sharing the simple shift that will transform how you approach your never-ending to-do lists and finally give you clarity on what actually matters.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • Why multiple lists create decision fatigue and make everything feel urgent
    • The hidden psychology behind why separate lists sabotage productivity
    • When you actually need two lists vs. one (there's a specific rule for this)
    • How to reframe your relationship with long lists so they don't overwhelm you
    • The master backlog system that eliminates prioritization confusion

  • Preparing for Events and Travel with Highly Sensitive Kids with Rachel Bailey
    Jul 22 2025

If you're a parent of a highly sensitive child, you know that planning a simple trip to the park can feel like orchestrating a military operation. What looks like a fun family outing can quickly turn into hours of repeated questions, worst-case scenario planning, and emotional meltdowns before you even leave the house.

In this episode, parenting expert Rachel Bailey joins me to share why traditional planning approaches often backfire with sensitive kids and what actually works instead. Rachel explains how sensitive children's brains are wired to assume threats in unpredictable situations, which is why your child might ask "What if I break my arm?" when you mention going somewhere new for the first time. You'll discover practical strategies for creating the structure and predictability these kids crave without letting trip planning take over your entire life.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • Why sensitive kids assume the worst when facing unpredictable situations
    • How to identify your child's specific triggers from past experiences
    • Creating "when/then" plans that help kids manage discomfort in new situations
    • The three essential elements every trip needs
    • How to handle the 176th repetition of the same question without losing your mind
    • Planning transitions both TO and FROM events and travel
    • Deciding which experiences are worth the extra effort and which to skip

  • Planning During Grief and Major Life Changes
    Jul 15 2025

When you're navigating grief, job loss, divorce, or any major life disruption, the last thing you need is pressure to maintain your normal productivity levels. Yet so many women beat themselves up because they "just can't get it all done anymore" during these difficult seasons. The truth is, you're not supposed to be getting it all done right now, and it's time to completely rewrite the rules of how you manage your time during grief and major life changes.

Society subtly tries to time-box our grief with limited bereavement policies and expectations to "bounce back" after a week or two. But grief doesn't work on anyone else's timeline, and your planning system needs to flex with your reality, not fight against it. In this episode, I share the simple three-step approach I used during my own season of profound grief, plus practical strategies for honoring your energy levels while letting go of perfectionist expectations.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • Why you're not supposed to "get it all done" during grief
    • The three-step weekly planning process for difficult seasons
    • How to assess commitments honestly without guilt
    • Why you can't go back to your "old normal" (and why that's okay)
    • Practical ways to lower the bar and ask for help

  • How One Summer Day Saves Me Hours During the Holidays
    Jul 8 2025

Picture this: it's a random Tuesday in July, Christmas music is blasting, and you're spending the entire day baking holiday cookies with your kids. Sounds crazy? This simple tradition has become one of my most effective holiday stress-busting strategies. If December always feels like a chaotic scramble of baking, crafting, and endless to-dos, you're going to love this completely unserious approach to a very serious problem.

What started as a way to bring back the joy in holiday traditions has transformed into a strategic planning method that saves me hours during the busy holiday season. By doing holiday prep work when I actually have time and mental space, I've turned stressful December obligations back into the fun family activities they were meant to be. This isn't just about cookies. It's about thinking strategically and giving your future self the gift of a more relaxed holiday season.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • Why December traditions become overwhelming (and how to fix it)
    • How to choose which holiday activities work best for summer prep
    • Strategic freezing and storage tips for holiday baking
    • The planning mindset that prevents reactive holiday scrambling
    • How this approach breaks up summer monotony while solving December stress

  • Why Your Teen Struggles to Stay on Top of School
    Jul 1 2025

Picture this: It's Sunday night, you're winding down from dinner, and your teen casually mentions they need supplies for a project due tomorrow. Sound familiar?

If you've been frustrated watching your capable kid struggle to stay on top of their school schedule, here's some relief: it's not because they're lazy or procrastinating. The transition from elementary school's single-teacher environment to juggling seven different teachers is like going from having one boss to managing seven different jobs with seven different communication styles - and no one teaches them how to handle this massive shift.

Add in extracurriculars, family time, and basic teenage needs for downtime, and it's no wonder our kids feel overwhelmed. The good news? There's a planning approach specifically designed for students that actually works.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • Why the transition to multiple teachers creates planning chaos for students
    • The two major mistakes most student planners make
    • How to reduce friction at home around homework and deadlines
    • The four essential planning levels every student needs to master
    • A new solution specifically designed for overwhelmed students and families

  • White Space On Your Calendar But No Time For Yourself? Here's Why!
    Jun 24 2025

You're doing everything "right" with your calendar. You've left white space, you're not booking every minute from sunup to sundown, and you're following all the expert advice about avoiding overcommitment. So why do you still feel like you never have any time for yourself?

If this sounds painfully familiar, you're not alone. The truth is, most women are unknowingly lumping four completely different types of time into their "white space," and it's sabotaging any chance of actually having guilt-free downtime. Today, I'm breaking down exactly what's happening and how to fix it so your white space can finally work the way it's supposed to.

    In This Episode, I'll Cover:

    • The 4 hidden time categories secretly living in your white space
    • Why buffer time isn't actually free time (and how to plan for it properly)
    • How to protect your personal time from being hijacked by productivity mode
    • The "uncertainty budget" concept that prevents last-minute chaos
