• Fake Authors Using AI: Exposing Fake Authorship in the Age of AI
    Aug 9 2025
Are you concerned about how artificial intelligence is reshaping what it means to be an author? In this episode of the Wait What Really OK, Brand Communications and Optics Podcast, I share my take on the growing trend of fake authors using AI to make false books.

Fake authority is on the rise. Across social media, ads push quick hit book creation tools promising instant authorship, often marketed as the next big trend for professionals. But does a two minute prompt and an AI driven script make someone a genuine author? Or is it just deception dressed as expertise?

If your values are grounded in honorable business practices, transparency, and true authority, this may be a trend to skip and avoid. As a Brand Communications and Optics Strategist, I specialize in honest and transparent brand communications by helping leaders build credible, honest, and strong foundations for their messaging. It is also why I am very much against this trend and how fake authors using Ai only reinforces the weakness of their brands. This episode examines some of the shortcuts many are taking. It highlights how quick AI courses, fake books, and copycat content not only undermine personal credibility but can also pollute the trust that clients, teams, and industries work so hard to build.

I share about the practical differences between using AI as an assistant and abusing it as a shortcut. I also discuss certain AI tools that can support your editing, organizing, and compliance, while making clear the line between authentic content creation and manufactured authority. And I explore this issue from a few different angles, keeping the focus on transparency, strategic communications, and long term credibility.

From this episode, you may find it to just be a rant or you may walk away understanding some of the red flags of fake authorship, how to vet books and online courses, and ways to set yourself apart with truth and professional clarity in your field.

No empty hype. Just real world perspective for real experts choosing honor over shortcuts in a world that tempts the opposite.

In this episode of the Wait What Really OK, Brand Communications and Optics Podcast, I break down what it means to plan your book with purpose and clarity. Many people rush to write a book for the wrong reasons. Some want to look like an authority. Some use AI or quick prompts to get it done fast. But if you want your story to stand out and build real credibility, you need a strong foundation.

I share some practical steps for authors and professionals who value transparency, authority, and longterm stability. I talk about the risks of shortcuts, self-publishing scams, and the truth behind the “Amazon bestseller” label. I explain why building a brand strategy blueprint for your book matters as much as the writing itself. This episode covers publishing options, the importance of chapter titles, and how to protect your intellectual property from the start.

You’ll hear how to use your book to support speaking, consulting, and other services. I walk through my own experiences with self-publishing, hybrid publishing, and working with major publishers. I show how planning your book’s brand strategy blueprint early can help you reach your audience, build trust, and set yourself apart in a crowded market.

If you want to make your book part of a bigger message, this episode may be for you. I focus on actionable insights for professionals and businesses who care about honorable business practices. I talk about outlining, titling, and marketing your book before it’s even finished.
