Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude!

I am a firm believer that along my life path I must take time to express and extend my gratitude to the people and circumstances that have got me to where I am today and to where I will go in the future. Everything and everybody who I've crossed paths with came to show me something, reflect something, teach something and/or simply be something I needed at those moments in my life and for that I am truly grateful.

In this week's episode I'm taking y'all into the depths of what inspired the many elements of my recent art installation entitled "The seeds that were planted led me here" which is on view at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, IL as part of the Beneath the Visible group exhibition curated by the incredible Silvia Inés Gonzalez.

In this episode I'm reflecting back on my most recent trip to Asheville, NC where I was invited to participate in a panel on Black Foodways, a communal dinner that was catered by Chef BJ Dennis and an art show at Noir AVL in downtown Asheville. I came back from this trip so nourished and so full from the conversations I had and the people I met.

In this episode I share the origin story of what got me interested in sharing food in the various ways I've shared it over the years. Whether it be through food events, planting and documenting different seeds I grow or simply sharing a cultural dish and it's history and significance with someone, this is where the spark began.

Peace peace y'all and welcome to the beginnings of my archive of stories about my food and art journey. I'm excited to for this winter season we're currently in, which i never thought I'd say, but with it has come more laughter, more ease and more consistency and i'm here for ALL of it.
