🎙️ In this Episode: The Rite of Passage Every Black Business Owner Has to Go Through

In this episode of Creatives Do Business Well, I am speaking directly to every Black business owner who has ever felt like burning it all down. The discourse around Anifa Mvuemba closing Hanifa after almost fifteen years brought up everything I live every single day as a Black creative entrepreneur in America.

I share a voice memo straight from my heart. I talk about why I am not shocked by Anifa's decision, why I overstand it, and why this moment is bigger than one brand closing. It is a rite of passage that our community needs to understand.

    In this episode we cover:

Why Black business owners face a completely different starting point than their counterparts

How systemic barriers and lack of capital turn gifted creatives into burned out business owners

The double standard our community holds Black businesses to while giving billion dollar brands unlimited grace

Why your gift has to serve you before it serves anyone else

How to prioritize your wellness, your creative freedom, and your wholeness while building a business from your gifts

A love letter and a prayer for Anifa and every Black business owner choosing themselves today

If your business is running you instead of you running it, let's fix that. Book a free discovery call

and let's build the content and systems that keep your brand active even when you are offline and resting.

  • 010: Creatives Do Business By Embracing Their Multi-passionate Nature
    Apr 23 2025

I talk about why being multi-passionate is actually your superpower as a creative entrepreneur - not something to overcome or "fix." If you've ever been told to "just pick one thing" or felt guilty about having multiple creative interests, this episode is for you.

The “pick one thing" mentality is outdated doesn't serve creative entrepreneurs. We'll go over ways to manage your creative interests without feeling scattered, create structure, and honor your whole self - mind, body, spirit, and energy.

Being multi-passionate isn't a flaw… it's a gift. You don't need to choose just one lane or fit yourself into someone else's business model. The world needs your unique combination of talents and perspectives.

  • 009: To the Creative Who Feels Numb: What to Do When Business Isn’t Fun Anymore
    Apr 22 2025

In this episode of Creatives Do Business Well, we continue the ‘ Go With the Flow. Then Get To Business Series’ and talk about the Sacral Chakra. I talk about what happens when you lose that spark for your creative business.

Remember when you'd lose track of time working on projects you loved? Now it feels more like a to-do list you're dragging yourself through. Today we're talking about your creative energy center (your sacral area) - where all your passion, joy, and creative flow lives.

I explore how generations of Black women entrepreneurs have been pushed to suppress joy and creativity for survival, creating ancestral patterns that live in our bodies today. When your sacral chakra is depleted, no external business change will fix the problem - you need to address the energy depletion at its source.

  • 008: Why You Keep Going Back to Hustle Culture (Even When You Know Better)
    Apr 17 2025

🎙️In this Episode: Why You Keep Going Back to Hustle Culture (Even When You Know Better)

In this episode of Creatives Do Business Well, we continue the ‘ Go With the Flow. Then Get To Business Series’ and talk about the Root Chakra. I talk about why so many creative entrepreneurs find themselves trapped in hustle culture despite knowing it's not sustainable.

I share my personal journey of retiring the "queen of hustle" title and explain how our Root Chakra (the energy center responsible for safety, security, and survival) drives these patterns and keeps us stuck in unhealthy work cycles.

I discuss how generational patterns, systemic challenges, and survival responses in our bodies create a powerful pull back to overworking, even when we intellectually know better. This episode offers understanding of why hustle culture is so hard to escape, particularly for Black women and those from marginalized communities who've had to work twice as hard for half as much.

  • 007: Building a Business Doesn't Mean Putting Your Whole Self on Pause
    Apr 16 2025

🎙️ In this Episode: What's Missing When We're in Survival Mode?

In this episode of Creatives Do Business Well, I talk about what happens when we get so focused on building our businesses that we neglect other important parts of ourselves.

I share my personal realization about being stuck in survival mode despite building a business meant to create freedom. I explore how we often put our other passions, interests, and creative outlets on hold while we focus solely on "making it work" in business, and that persistent feeling that "something is missing" even when we're working hard toward our dreams.

Throughout the episode, I ask important questions for you to reflect on: If you didn't have a business, what would you be doing right now? What activities brought you joy as a child before you knew about bills and business plans? What parts of yourself are waiting in the wings, ready for their moment to shine?
