• #115 Holly Morris - Explaining life with ADHD, being a positive influence and the importance of therapy
    Mar 20 2024

This one's been a long time coming, stoked to finally get Holly on the pod!

I first met Holly way back in 2020, since then it's been awesome to watch her on social media explode into the force she is now, providing real talk and a lot of fun to so many people.

After her being diagnosed with ADHD, she got the answers as to why she often felt so different to others, we delved right into this and why life once diagnosed as neurodivergent can almost seem easier as you can settle into your skin a bit more.

We touched on the dangers of social media, the juxtaposition of her status as an 'influencer' and trying to showcase real life while being entertaining and playing the game, the dangers of comparison on socials, especially for young women and more.

Finally, and a big subject for me right now having just restarted it, the benefits of going to therapy and why it's so important to keep doing it, even if you feel like you're getting better.

An enormously valuable and fun conversation with someone I'm stoked to call a friend, hope you guys enjoy as much as I did!

FYI, sorry my mic sounds a bit odd, at time of recording I was in my mums attic and using in person setup as my remote mic has done a disappearing act!

  • #114 Georgie Spurling - Why wellness doesn't need to be a privilege and the benefits of habit stacking
    Mar 13 2024

Great to be joined on the pod this week by Georgie Spurling!

Georgie is the founder and CEO of Arvra, a wellness app aimed at giving people the tools they need to live a better life, whether it’s physical or mental fitness they’re looking to work on.

In the episode we got into why wellness can be viewed as something that people with privilege can take advantage of, why Georgie relies on ‘Habit Stacking’, the effect of moving your body on your mental health, why it can sometimes be too much on social media, intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation, nutrition and a whole lot more.

An extremely valuable conversation with a great ambassador for the wellness movement, some really refreshing takes in here that I hope you can enjoy and take something away from.

    Enjoy!

  • Why mental health needs to be discussed more in extreme sports, with Ryan Peacock
    Feb 28 2024

Great to be joined this week by Pro Wakeboarder, coach and vlogger, Ryan Peacock!

After I saw the documentary Ryan created alongside the Dirty Habits guys down in Cape Town all about mental health within extreme sports, I wanted to get him on for a longer conversation about why it's still such a taboo subject within this industry and the power he gained from speaking out about his struggles.

From the idea and pressure of always trying to look like you're living the dream, the effects of social media and content creation on the life of a pro athlete to dealing with injuries, we touched on so many aspects of life as a pro athlete in the extreme sports world.

Something really interesting Ryan talked about was his role as a coach now and how he's striving to make extreme sports more inclusive and encourage people of all shapes, sizes and levels of fitness to get into it. It's a world full of gatekeepers and it was awesome to hear there's those like Ryan at the top of these sports being like this.

A really poignant, valuable conversation from one of the best to do it in their field, I hope you enjoy my conversation with Ryan as much as I did!

  • Staying calm under pressure, managing teams and organising a busy brain, with Adam Sims
    Feb 6 2024

This week I'm joined again for round 2 by Mr Adam Sims!

Adam is the CEO and Director of the Freestyle Pro Tour, CEO of AALVAA Media and professional windsurfer.

One of the first remote guests I had on when starting this podcast, I thought it was time to bring Adam back on to discuss all that has happened since, how he's made the transition from a pro athlete to a business man and all the lessons learned along the way.

We discussed how he prioritises his life, juggling multiple jobs and commitments, how he stays so calm under pressure and the way he chooses to deal with people.

Given I now work for the tour also, this was really fun for me to get a bit more into it with Adam about how he goes about creating the team around him, why for him it's all about collaboration rather than a hierarchy and a whole lot more.

Super interesting conversation for anyone who currently manages people, but also great if you find you have a busy brain and don't know where to start!

    Hope you enjoy 🙌

  • Why you NEED to invest in yourself, with George Grisley
    Jan 30 2024

Stoked to kick off the episodes in 2024 with one of my closest friends, George Grisley!

George is a professional windsurfer, media manager for the Freestyle Pro Tour and and content creator. Having watched his rise over the last couple of years in the windsurf world, I thought it would be the perfect time to get him on to discuss his journey so far.

We chatted about his mindset, the work he's put in, how he copes with imposter syndrome, the importance of investing into yourself, staying present and a whole lot more.

A worthy listen for anyone trying to progress in their career at the moment, whether it's within sports or anything else, Georges journey and progress has to be admired and he has some great wisdom to impart, hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording!

  • SOLO Episode: Catching up, 5 lessons I've learned since I took a break.
    Jan 23 2024

    It's been a minute!

Life has changed a lot for me in the last 8 months. Everything got flipped upside down so needed to spend some time on myself, doing the work and adjusting to a new way of living.

In this pod I just reintroduce and recalibrate, giving you the 5 lessons and things I've really held onto and how they've helped, hopefully they can help you too!

Sorry if the sound is a bit odd, it was recorded a month or 2 ago in Brazil and for some reason it just came out a bit strange, but still fine to listen to!

    Hope you enjoy 🙌

  • Suicide prevention, the early signs to look for and why men need to talk more, with Steve Phillip
    Mar 21 2023

One of the most important conversations I’ve had so far.

Steve Phillip is the founder of The Jordan Legacy, a suicide prevention charity created in the wake of Steve’s son Jordans suicide.

Using his platform on Linkedin, Steve now delivers talks, runs the charity and uses his voice to help break the stigma around suicide and help those suffering.

I’ve had my own experiences with these feelings. I’m proud to say I made it out of the other side, but so many sadly don’t

We discussed why it’s such an issue for men in particular, how The Jordan Legacy was founded, the practical actions to prevent suicide and some early signs to look out for if you’re worried about someone in your life.

Seems biased for me to say this I know, but this is essential listening. I hope you enjoy and take something from it!
