Continuing her mission to save her eyesight, Angela was the first person to try red lght therapy when it was offered by the Optegra Hospital in London (it had previously only been offered by them in Manchester.) In this episode, she completes the first round of nine treatments and speaks to Clare O'Donnell, head of eye sciences and optometry for Optegra in the UK. After extensive research into the treatment options (or lack of) for AMD, Angela finds out that the Optegra eye hospital is to offer photobiodmodulation or red light therapy, at its London clinic. Angela Young is on a journey to halt her early onset Macular Degeneration.
There is currently no treatment available for this condition, which is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK. In episode 1 she explored all the possible treatments in the pipeline, and after the results of a trial for red light therapy were published in January, she decided to give it a go to see if she can save her sight.
But will she eligible or not?
In episode 2 she travels to Manchester in the UK to find out. If not, there are no other optons availabe.
