    Dec 16 2025

What happens when you stop believing the quiet little stories that say "that's just not for me"?

This week on Sports Will Save Us All, Sasha sits down with leadership strategist, coach, and change-maker Carlee Wolfe for a conversation that moves seamlessly from the boardroom to the court—and straight into the heart of what holds us back.

Together, they unpack self-limiting beliefs, the powerful overlap between sports and life, and why inclusivity isn't a "nice to have" in athletics—it's essential. Sports Fam, you are in for a treat! In a follow-up to Sasha's interview with LUCHA: A Wrestling Tale coach, Josh Lee, we're dropping this special episode with the formidable (and hilarious) Nyasia Jennings. Nyasia was one of the four high school athletes that documentary filmmakers followed for over two years to capture the story of New York City's first all-girls wrestling team.

Now, ten years out from the high school girl she was in the movie, Nyasia reflects on the experience, its impact, and the continued influence the sport of wrestling, and Coach Josh Lee, have had on her life.

  • Girls Who Wrestle, Girls Who Rise | Josh Lee
    Dec 9 2025

This week on Sports Will Save Us All, host Sasha Graham sits down with Josh Lee, the wrestling coach at the heart of the brand new, award-winning documentary now streaming on Amazon and Apple called Lucha: A Wrestling Tale.

Together, Sasha and Josh dive into the lives of the young female wrestlers featured in the film, especially Shirley, whose fierce determination and resilience embody the spirit of Lucha. Josh offers a candid look at the challenges the girls faced—both on and off the mat—including homelessness, hunger, and systemic inequities.

The conversation also explores the ethical considerations of telling stories from impoverished communities, the rapid growth of the new, non-profit Lucha Wrestling Club, and the profound ways that wrestling can empower young women. Josh reflects on what it means to coach with compassion, how to build trust with vulnerable youth, and why authentic storytelling matters.

Lucha is more than a documentary—it's a testament to the transformative power of sports, and is serving as a springboard for hundreds of middle school and high school girls who are now discovering wrestling for the very first time.

  • Bare Knuckles, Big Heart. Fighting, Recovery, and Rising Above | Brooke Evans
    Dec 2 2025

This week on Sports Will Save Us All, Brooke Evans joins Sasha to share her extraordinary journey from addiction and adversity to becoming a professional boxer and bare knuckle fighter. Brooke opens up about how stepping into the ring taught her to channel her energy, rebuild her confidence, and embrace the mental discipline that competition demands.

Brooke talks about the unique rush of bare knuckle fighting ("like skydiving," she says), the mental preparation that keeps her centered before each bout, and the emotional crash that often follows the high of fight night. She also reflects on the power of support systems, from her tight-knit circle of friends to the inspiration she draws from her teenage son.

In this conversation, Brooke discusses how her past struggles with addiction fuel her determination—not only to succeed in the sport she loves, but to help others who are walking a similar path. She shares her dream of launching a nonprofit to support children in foster care and kids with incarcerated parents, a mission rooted deeply in her own lived experience.

Brooke also speaks candidly about gratitude, personal growth, and the strength she's found alongside other women in sports. Her story is a reminder that while the fight may be brutal, the resilience forged along the way can be life-changing.

  • Former Denver Bronco on the Power to Rebuild | John Youboty Jr.
    Nov 25 2025

This week on Sports Will Save Us All, we're joined by John Youboty Jr., whose story is a powerful reminder that setbacks don't have to define us — in sports or in life.

After a standout senior season at Temple University, where he earned Second Team All Big East Defensive honors, John was picked up by the Denver Broncos as an un-drafted free agent. But just two years into his time with the organization, a torn Achilles brought his football career to a sudden end.

In our conversation, John reflects on the emotional and psychological impact of that moment — and the work it takes to rebuild your identity when the thing you've spent your life chasing is taken off the table. He talks about resilience, motivation, and the discipline required to move forward instead of letting adversity dictate the narrative.

John eventually forged a new path as a real estate investor, entrepreneur, and ICF-certified executive coach. Today, as the founder of the Supreme Coaching Group, he is dedicated to helping others reach their full potential by aligning purpose with performance.

  • Warning: This Episode May Make You Want to Run | Jeffrey Weiss
    Nov 18 2025

On this week's episode of Sports Will Save Us All, Sasha sits down with Jeffrey Weiss—author of the wildly inspiring book Racing Against Time.

Jeffrey didn't lace up for his first 10K until the age of 48, but once he did, he never looked back. In his 50s and early 60s he went on to complete more marathons than most people care to count, knocked out two Ironman races, survived twice the notoriously brutal 56-mile ultramarathon in South Africa, and somehow decided that wasn't enough… so he ran a 72-mile ultramarathon around Tahoe for good measure.

In this conversation, Jeffrey shares what pushed him to start running later in life, how he built the mental and physical toughness to keep going, and why he believes it's never too late to chase something big. And yes, Sasha admits she's a bit irritated with him—because his book is so good, so compelling, and so annoyingly motivating that she's now wondering whether her long-held "13.1 miles is my limit" belief might not be true after all.

If you've ever thought you were too old, too busy, or too late to try something new, Jeffrey's story might just convince you otherwise.

This week's guest, Chris Baron, is an award-winning documentary producer and director, not necessarily a job that you would associate with sports until you see how Chris goes about his work. In addition to the clear parallels to team sports, Chris's position has required he push himself to his physical limits climbing, spelunking, hiking, hanging, and lifting.

Chris discusses the thrill of working in extreme environments and unforgettable filmmaking experiences, including camping by a lava lake, descending into a volcano, and crawling through an underground cave system. His passion for storytelling, science and adventure shines through in this unique episode of Sports Will Save Us All.
