Here is an example conversation between a gym member and gym supervisor about using the gym and different exercises:

Gym Member: Excuse me, I'm new to this gym. Could you help show me how some of the equipment works?

Gym Supervisor: Of course! I'd be happy to give you an orientation. What are your fitness goals?

Gym Member: Well, I'm hoping to get stronger and build a bit more muscle. I'm not sure where to start with the weights and machines.

Gym Supervisor: No problem. Since you're new to strength training, I suggest starting with some basic full body exercises using dumbbells and bodyweight. I can demonstrate some good beginner moves.

Over here we have various dumbbells you can use for exercises like bicep curls, shoulder presses, and goblet squats. Let me show you the proper form.

Gym Member: Ah okay, so keeping my back straight and using my legs to lift. This squat is tougher than it looks!

Gym Supervisor: You're doing great! Once you get comfortable, we can move you to the weight machines. The leg press and chest press machines are fantastic for building lower and upper body strength.

I'd also recommend our weekly core strength class on Saturdays to work on your abs, back and balance. And feel free to ask any trainer for help crafting a full workout routine. We're here to support you!

Gym Member: This is really helpful, thank you. I'm feeling motivated - I'll try some dumbbell and bodyweight moves today and sign up for the core class. I appreciate you taking the time to explain everything.

Gym Supervisor: My pleasure! We're happy to have you as a new member. Don't hesitate to ask questions anytime. Have a great workout!

Say these phrases aloud as if you’re giving advice to a friend:

    • You should save money for emergencies.
    • I try not to spend money on things I don’t need.
    • Good money management really helps.

Record yourself reading this — or try using two or three in a short paragraph:

“If I play my cards right, this job interview could be a real game-changer. The name of the game is confidence — and I’ve got a solid game plan.”

    🎧 Practice challenge

    Try saying this aloud:

“For all I know, she’s in the know — but I certainly don’t know the ropes.”

    Try this:

    ✅ “She’s a Virgo and I’m a Leo. Total opposites.”

✅ “Is he an Aquarius or a Pisces?”

    ✅ “I’m a Sagittarius — but I don't believe in all that!”

🎧 Record yourself saying your star sign and two others. Listen back. Did you use the correct syllable stress and vowel sounds?
