About this listen

Have you ever looked up a movie to see if it's any good? Then it's likely you've seen a Rotten Tomatoes score. Rotten Tomatoes is a review aggregator website that gathers reviews from critics to decide if a film is 'fresh' or 'rotten'. But is the critical consensus everything? Join us as we look at movies the critics of Rotten Tomatoes have decided are 'rotten'. We'll talk about movies of all kinds and attempt to unearth any redeeming qualities these films may have. We'll also ask the question, are these movies really rotten? We'll look at trivia, discuss the films plot at length and see if there is any difference between what the critics say and what audiences think. If you want to join in the discussion or request a rotten movie you can email us at rankrottenpod@gmail.com or get in touch on Instagram @rankrottenpod. • S01E12 - Problem Child (1990)
    Aug 1 2025

This is our last episode before we go on a wee mid-season break until October, so as a sort of special we decided to cover a 0% movie, and that movie is 1990’s Problem Child, a film which is very confused and didn’t really seem to know what it wanted to do, we’d seen it referred to as ‘Problematic Child’ and to be fair, that’s quite accurate.

Synopsis: A seven-year-old troublemaker wreaks havoc on the lives of his new parents - a patient, kind-hearted man and his social ladder-climbing wife.’

We’ll talk about the film’s scores, go over the whole plot, talk about trivia and more. We’ll also talk about the movie's many shortcomings whilst unearthing some of the more wholesome or genuinely good moments (if we’re honest, this was a challenge). We’ll also talk about perhaps why this movie is a bit all over the place as well as talk about the Simpsons about 500 times for some reason!

If you would like to tell us what you thought of Problem Child, suggest a rotten film you’d like us to talk about or just say hello you can email us at rankrottenpod@gmail.com, or contact us on Instagram which is @rankrottenpod. Stay fresh and thanks for listening!

    Jul 25 2025

Where does your franchise go when it has nowhere else to go? That’s right, SPACE! This week it’s 2001’s (or 2002’s depending on who you ask) horror adjacent space slasher; Jason X. We’ve had quite a few requests for this one, so Mikey decided to choose it for his mystery pick!

Synopsis: ‘Jason Voorhees is cryogenically frozen at the beginning of the 21st century, and is discovered in the 25th century and taken to space. He gets thawed, and begins stalking and killing the crew of the spaceship that's transporting him.’

We’ll talk about the film’s scores, go over the whole plot, talk about trivia and more. We’ll also talk about what led to this movie’s release, do out first ‘kill count’ and fair warning, there is also a lot of nippy noo noo chat!

  • S01E10 - Twilight (2008)
    Jul 4 2025

This week we’re talking about 2008’s dreary romantic vampire flick; Twilight. Cat has been excited about this one. Largely because it would finally mean Mikey would have to watch it.

Synopsis: ‘High-school student Bella Swan, always a bit of a misfit, doesn't expect life to change much when she moves from sunny Arizona to rainy Washington state. Then she meets Edward Cullen, a handsome but mysterious teen whose eyes seem to peer directly into her soul. Edward is a vampire whose family does not drink blood, and Bella, far from being frightened, enters into a dangerous romance with her immortal soulmate.’

We’ll talk about the film’s scores, go over the whole plot, talk about trivia and more. We’ll also talk about towns named after cutlery, the bending of vampire lore and killer skin!

If you would like to tell us what you thought of Twilight, suggest a rotten film you’d like us to talk about or just say hello you can email us at rankrottenpod@gmail.com, or contact us on Instagram which is @rankrottenpod. Stay fresh and thanks for listening!
