• Episode 9: Holiday Tips for Families Affected by Disability
    Dec 1 2025

Welcome to the POSABILITY Podcast! POSABILITY is a nonprofit creating positive opportunities for families in the disability community.

Today’s episode is a little different — and really special. We don’t have a guest joining us this time. Instead, Wayne and I are taking a moment to slow down, breathe, and talk about something that so many families in our community experience every year… the holidays.

Because let’s be honest — for families raising children or adults with disabilities, the holidays can look very different. Most families wake up to a whirlwind of wrapping paper and warm cinnamon rolls. But for many of us, Christmas morning may still include medications, G-tube feeds, challenging behaviors, sensory overload, rigid routines, or simply the kind of exhaustion that doesn’t take a holiday break.

But here’s the truth we’ve learned after years of living this life alongside our daughter and this community: you can still create joy-filled, meaningful, festive memories — they just might look different. And that’s okay.

Today, we’ll share tips, encouragement, creative ideas, and some real honesty about celebrating the holidays with flexibility, grace, and a whole lot of self-compassion. You deserve that. Your family deserves that.

So take a deep breath, grab a cup of cocoa, and celebrate this season with us — exactly as you are.
