This week I’m talking about how giving and gratitude are connected in our brains and how they provide high quality dopamine and serotonin that make us feel happy and fulfilled.

Instead of focusing on stuff and feeling overwhelmed and frazzled, we can choose to focus on things that really matter like spending time serving others and creating memories with those we love.

Have you ever felt distant or disconnected from your teen? It feels terrible. This week I’m sharing a trick that can help you and your teen feel more connected.

As our kids grow we have to grow with them. We have to go from being the expert in their lives and solving all of their problems (like we did when they were little) to being the steady guide who reassures them that they are capable of making solid decisions for themselves.

As we treat them with respect and stop trying to control their lives, they magically seem to figure things out. We can’t wait for them to change, we get to go first. We get to lead with love and confidence instead of fear and control.

  • #39: The Power of Food With Special Guest Lindsay Neff
    Oct 29 2025

I'm so excited to have my amazing cousin, Lindsay Neff here on the podcast with me today. Lindsay is a mom to three amazing children, a wife, a photographer, and she recently published her first cookbook. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 20 years ago and has been on a journey to learn how to support her body and also still be able to enjoy the delicious foods that she loves.

Lindsay is a great example of the power of "choosing your hard". She talks about how her mindset helped her decide to make some big life changes and how those changes have given her more strength, energy and drive to do the things she loves. She is a living example that sometimes our biggest challenges can become avenues for developing our strengths. I love how she has decided to make what some could consider her stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

You can find Lindsay on Instagram @lowcarb.yum

Her beautiful new cookbook is a must have and would also make an amazing gift for your mom, sisters, and friends for the holidays!

As we continue to work on our own progress and development, we set a powerful example for our children to follow. We also get the happy byproduct of feeling fulfilled, which makes everything we do more enjoyable!
